SsangYong has pulled the covers off their latest addition to the Turismo range, the Tourist Camper.

Based on the company’s MPV and sitting at over 5 meters long, with a 3-meter wheelbase, the vehicle is said to be “larger than a standard sized people carrier“, and for that, SsangYong is charging £29,995 ($37,287) in the United Kingdom.

Turismo is one of the largest cars on the market, and in standard form offers seating for seven adult passengers and their luggage, and therefore ideal for conversion into a two-person campervan. Wellhouse Leisure has done an excellent job in creating such a great vehicle for the booming leisure market“, said the automaker’s UK CEO, Paul Williams.

Some of the key features that should come in handy during an overnight outdoor trip are the portable toilet, fresh and waste water containers, 25-liter compressor fridge, small sing, gas bottle, 12v charging system, rear tailgate awning, sliding glass top hob for indoor/outdoor use and front folding seats that can become twin beads.

Setting the caravan/MPV in motion is a 2.2-liter diesel engine, rated at 178 PS (175 HP) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque, available with a six-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed automatic gearbox, developed by Mercedes-Benz. Two-wheel drive is standard, but for the right amount, SsangYong will throw in a four-wheel drive.

As for the time and place where someone interested can see it with his/her two eyes, this has been set for the Motorhome & Caravan Show, at the NEC, Birmingham, between October 11 and 16.
