2017 Hyundai Elantra Sport Turbocharges Into The US From $22,485 [75 Images]

Hyundai has released pricing for “the most dynamic Elantra” ever, the turbochaarged 2017 Elantra Sport.

Available from $22,485, the new Hyundai Elantra Sport comes with a 1.6-liter Turbo-GDI engine paired to a six-speed manual gearbox, producing 201 horsepower (204 PS) and 195 pound-feet (264 Nm) of torque. Hyundai also offers a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox as an option.

Both versions of the new model benefit from a multi-link rear suspension, revised steering, upgraded brakes and a special set of 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in all-season tires. Other features include HID headlights, LED DRLs and taillights, black hexagonal grille with ‘Turbo’ badge, side sill extensions, rear-bumper diffuser insert and dual chrome exhaust tips.

Complementing the tweaked exterior is a long list of interior features that includes leather upholstery, red contrast stitching, heated sport front seats, flat-bottomed steering wheel, black headliner, 7-inch display, AM/FM/HD/SiriusXM, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, and proximity key with push-button start.

For an additional $2,400, the Premium Package becomes available, offering an 8-inch navigation system, Infinity premium audio system, Blue Link connectivity, power sunroof, dual-zone climate control, auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink and compass, Blind Spot Detection with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, and Lane Change Assist.

~same size as the CLA with roughly the same power as the CLA250, both with FWD and a 7spd DCT for $10k less. Then somehow this looks more expensive and doesn’t look half bad especially compared to the CLA. You’re not going to think “this is the cheap model” when you see it, while you’ll probably say “oh that’s the cheap model” when you see the CLA. I’m really finding it hard for anyone to buy the Merc over this, logically. The A3 2.0T AWD has a slightly better case with AWD and 20hp extra but it’s $12k more and I don’t think AWD and only 20 extra ponies is worth $12k extra.

      You not lying one bit…

    • Toronado_II

I understand your point. But I don’t know if the expertise of Mercedes deserve our attention a bit more.
Can we compare the dynamic of these cars ? Maybe…

      • Kash

I mean I wasn’t like “oh my god this is super fun to drive!” in the CLA250 4Matic so it wouldn’t take much for the Elantra to excite me.

Part of me also wants to forgive the CLA for not being super dynamic and fun to drive because it is the base spec of the entry level car for a brand, but if i do that then I’d have to do the same for the Elantra even though it is the top spec model for a mid level car for a brand. So I’m a little torn.

So, lets take a ride in each one and let me know !

22k, when did kpop get so expensive

    • Jason Miller

      That’s a great price actually.

      • Mind Synthetic

didn’t expect that from an elantra for god sake, i got issues, clearly

        • Grumpy

The Elantra is leaps better than last generation. Yes, it is still bouncy, but much sharper to drive. With the upgrades made on the sport, it probably eliminates that issue.

  • U8INIT

    This is really sharp looking…

  • salamOOn

This is a pretty decent looking car! I really like the interior.

This would make a perfect daily driver.

It’s nice that this sport version elantra distinguishes itself from the regular elantra. this sport elantra looks sharper and indeed shows a more sporty vibe.

Hyundai Ironiq and KIA Rio already have a regular 1.6
Why not offer the 1.6T in those too?
call it the RioT and iToniq

    • Grumpy

I don’t know if people will pay more for those cars, considering compacts aren’t significantly expensive.
