Gone are the days when car buyers went for black, grey or white colors, and Mazda not only gave it’s new CX-5 a more aggressive and sportier look, but they also dressed it in a new shade.

Named Soul Red Crystal, it is said to combine “vivid highlights and crystalline depths and further accentuate its design”, which results in “stunning level of transparency”.

But enough about colors, as the 2017 Mazda CX-5 is entirely new, both inside and out with the designers looking at the larger CX-9 for inspiration. Additionally, it’s also 10 mm longer and 20 mm taller than before, but despite these changes, its wheelbase remains exactly the same – 2,700 mm (106.3 in).

When it goes on sale next February in Japan, with other markets to follow shortly after, the SUV will be offered with 2.0-liter, and 2.5-liter petrol engines, and a 2.2-liter diesel. The latter will also be available in the US too.
