Mercedes-Maybach S650 Cabriolet Is Firm’s Most Luxurious And Exclusive Drop-Top

The Mercedes-Maybach family has just welcomed a new member on the eve of the Los Angeles Auto Show with the new S650 Cabriolet.

Power for the model comes thanks to the brand’s 6.0-liter twin-turbocharged V12 engine delivering a total of 621 hp and mated exclusively to a dual-clutch automatic transmission. But for a car like the S650 Cabriolet, it isn’t the engine which is the headline, it is the number of luxurious features found within and there’s certainly no shortage of them.

The standard S-Class Cabriolet is already one of the most luxurious convertibles currently on the market and the Maybach variant is largely unchanged. It does however adopt plush new seats and a selection of Maybach badges just to remind owners that they’re in something rather special. Elsewhere, there are the same plush elements as the standard model include the dual screens, black dashboard trim and ambient lighting.

The exterior of the model also adopts a number of distinctive elements including Maybach badges, quad tailpipes, a newly-designed set of wheels and an updated front bumper.

The S650 Cabriolet becomes the first model in the MercedesMaybach to be built in limited numbers with just 300 destined for the production line of which only 75 will arrive in the United States.

In Europe, prices will start at around 300,000 euros ($321,900) with U.S. pricing expected to be released at a later date.

  • Honda NSX-R

Sorry but that just doesn’t look good to me. Might be the color scheme and the wheels

    • Mokes Oz

      For China

  • Maa_4861

I must say this looks pretty good even though i didnt expect it to be. I just wish they would remove the Mercedes badge and bring more maybach-exclusive design changes to interior and exterior. From far this would look just like a slightly tuned s class coupe.

  • donald seymour

The standard S cabriolet has class. This however, is kind of ratchet looking.

  • surfshop

You only paying for the name…

    • Bash

exactly… or just paying for those small side (MM) badges and that bag..

  • Matthijs

That chrome on the front and those wheels really ruin it..

  • StrangerGP

Tasteless. With all that chrome in the front and those rims it looks a rapper’s amateurishly pimped ride.

  • Miknik

A beautifull car, that does not exactlly impürove with nouveau riche detailing and alloys that look like hub caps. I’ll have the standard car anyday (not that I could afford one, but that’s just life being life ;-))

  • TheHake

    Gawd those wheels!

  • homemark

The fact Mercedes’ marketing department has carried out lots of market research to confirm a market exists for this can only mean one thing – we are all doomed. It is vile. I’d love to meet the imbeciles prepared to pay so much from something so revolting.

  • Bash

it should have the maybach logo on the hood… you know, not to cross-think of it with the S cabriolet… or at least differentiate the S-class from the maybach with different grill or front/rear light!!

  • if i want that keychain do i have to buy the car too?

  • ediotsavant

Save yourself a ton of money and buy the regular version. Or forever explain to everyone it’s a Maybach.
    You: It’s a Maybach! Paid $300K!
    Me: Are you sure?
    You: Yes.
Me: Looks the same to that one. Points to $120K Mercedes across the road.
    You: That’s a Mercedes. This a Maybach!
    Me: What’s the difference? I don’t see a difference.
You: Look at the emblem. Points to it. That’s a Maybach!
Me: Look at that. Points to three pointed star. That’s a Mercedes.
    You: **** off!

  • Сафиуллина-Мохамед Рамазанов

Benz are so sad and want to transfere the Maybach from brand to trim
but they found that this will intersect with there already current line-up
we will have to wait and see
from all the articles i read before
i start to feel that by time
all the long wheel base C / E / S will be only Maybach plus the G wagon
all the 4 doors coupe which in previous was to be named CLA / CLC / CLE / CLS & the GL * coupe will be AMG branded
and the remaining will be normal Benz branded

  • Tumbi Mtika

    Oh, this SUCKS!!!

  • Raf

Who”s the sucker that’ll pony up for this? I’d rather have a Rolls or Bentley.

  • KidRed

Looks like a Chinese knockoff. Wheels are horrible, there’s WAYYYYY too much chrome and the dotted LED DRLs are unappealing at best.

  • Sjaak

    embodied bad bad bad taste
