After dropping the first details of the Arteon, Volkswagen have now released a short video that shows the front end of the upcoming model.

Inspired by the Sport Coupe Concept unveiled last year, with its horizontal-bar large grille and similar headlights, the car serves as the replacement for the Volkswagen CC, but unlike the model it replaces it will adopt a liftgate similar to the one used on the Audi A7.

Its sporty character will be emphasized by the sloping roofline and large wheels, but it remains to be seen what exactly lies underneath its fresh sheet metal, although it is more than likely based on the MQB platform that also underpins the Passat.

Using the versatile architecture means that the Arteon will get to use a wide variety of petrol and diesel engines, along with possible electrified powertrains, but the exact lineup will be announced next year, once it will be officially presented at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show.
