Alfa Romeo is revealing the new Stelvio SUV as well the US market Giulia at the Los Angeles Auto Show and you can watch the press conference live right here.

The new Italian SUV is based on the Giorgio platform that underpins also the Giulia. The two models will also share most of the powertrains, including the range-topping twin-turbo 2.9-litre V6 petrol engine, complete with 505 hp and 443 lb-ft.

This engine will allow the new Stelvio to become one of the most performance-oriented SUVs in the market, with a 0-60mph (0-96km/h) in 3.9 seconds and a 177mph (284km/h) top speed. Power will be sent to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox that can upshift in just 100 milliseconds while the all-wheel drive system is complimented by a torque vectoring differential.

The other known engine of the range will be the turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol unit with 280 hp and 306 lb-ft of torque. This version also comes with an eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive as standard.

Inside, the design approach is mostly the same with the Giulia, with the dashboard featuring a 6.5-inch infotainment display as standard, with an 8.8-inch display to be offered as an option. Other features include an optional 14-speaker audio system from Harman Kardon, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, forward collision warning, lane departure warning and optional front parking sensors.
