Lamborghini has selected two sculptures which will be constructed at two separate roundabouts in its home town of Sant’Agata Bolognese, Italy.

The sculptures were designed as part of the Lamborghini Road Monument Competition and in total, over 500 proposals were submitted before these two were selected as the joint winners.

The first and perhaps most eye-catching of the pair comes courtesy of Italian-based design firm ACQ Studio and resembles a golden bolt of lightning. While it doesn’t have any real Lamborghini-ness in its design, it is certainly eye-catching and will add an interesting talking point to the small town.

As for the second sculpture, it was designed by London design team 0.9 and depending on the angle at which it is viewed, looks different. According to the Italian carmaker, “How the work is seen depends on the angle of observation, in the same way that a Lamborghini changes as it flashes past at high speed.”

Among the judges was Lamborghini chief executive Stefano Domenicali and a number of designers. Both sculptures will be erected next year.
