New Dodge Challenger GT AWD Roars To Russia From Alaska

With the Dodge Challenger GT AWD, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has America’s only all-wheel drive muscle coupe in its arsenal and while its success has yet to be determined, FCA is understandably proud of it.

In the first commercial for the model, dubbed Russia, Dodge took the all-wheel drive Challenger to the wintry conditions of Alaska.

According to an old wives tale, there is a certain point in Alaska where you can almost see Russia and the commercial plays on this, saying that if that’s true, then Russia can certainly hear America thanks to the Challenger.

Discussing the model, FCA North America head of passenger cars Tim Kuniskis said “With its iconic muscle car design, 305 horsepower and all-wheel-drive capability, the new Dodge Challenger GT is now the most exciting all-weather daily driver – even if you live in Alaska. With the Challenger GT joining the Dodge Charger AWD, Dodge offers the only cars that combine that visceral muscle car attitude without sacrificing practicality and all-weather security.”

Beyond its all-wheel drive system that borrows components from the Charger, the Challenger GT AWD uses a 3.5-liter Pentastar V6 with 305 hp and 268 lb-ft of torque.

Dodges current marketing plan….Drive the car like its a racecar and we show people doing it on public roads. Screw your insurance premiums.

      America baby!

  • Ken Lyns

Think the sound in the commercial is simulated. It’s the same V6 as the minivan?

    • T_Cake

And the Wrangler, Journey, etc. It’s a solid mill.

      • Ken Lyns

I’m sure it is… more of less, for a Chrysler engine. I just think a V6 is out of a place in a so heavily retro-styled muscle car.

Someone will supercharge or turbocharge it. Or maybe FCA will offer either the 5.7 or 6.4 HEMIs with AWD too. I’m expecting someone to at least lift one. Heck, the Hellcat 6.2 supercharged could use AWD.

        Wrangler is slow as molasses.

Minivan at least is aided by a hybrid gasoline-electric drivetrain as well as a 9-speed automatic.

Different tool for a different job.

    • psiqtas

The engine sound is one thing that doesn’t corespondent with the Pentastar to me… Sound more like a HEMI to me…unfortunately this model isn’t available with the HEMI, so imagine a family station wagon like the Magnum 5.7 could outrun it!

  • T_Cake

I like the idea of an AWD Challenger, and the Pentastar V6 is good as an option, but where are the other engine choices?

    • Thomas Maynard

The pentastar is a problem child… I can’t name a new motor that I’d want less. It’s got decent power, sure… But no torque, and more problems than an older fiat.

      • Jon

I’ve had 4 of them with zero problems. It’s a great engine.

    • Benjamin B.

Hellcat 4wd? We need another crazy lifted redneck coupe! Lol.

      • T_Cake

They would sell them like hotcakes. Or Molasses Edition Wranglers.

  • Shtekeris

Much shaky cam, very speed up frames, many cuts. Wow.

I mean, it’s AWD, couldn’t they just really drift it in snow without this headache edit.
