After the official presentation of the Insignia Grand Sport, it’s only natural to wonder how the new Buick Regal, which will practically be the U.S. version of Opel’s family saloon, will look like.

Until GM launches the finished item, we’ll have to make do with renderings, such as these two by TheophilusChin. Apart from the Buick-specific front end, the rest of the car is, understandably, identical to the Insignia, although it’s possible that the Regal will drop the liftback bodystyle in favor of a four-door sedan, which might sit better with U.S. buyers.

Buick is expected to drop the curtain for the all-new Regal sometime next year and will share most of its parts with the European car. There are also rumors on a possible Regal GS, coming with the usual chassis modifications, beefed up body kit, larger wheels, improved brakes, all-wheel drive and a turbocharged V6, akin to the top-spec Insignia OPC.
