Even though there are one or two alternatives to the RS6 Avant, it seems that at least in terms of popularity, Audi’s super-estate is still in a league of its own.

At least that’s how Carbuyer’s Ginny Buckley feels after driving this 605 PS family monster around in Performance guise. What this means is that aside from the 605 horses under the hood, you also get 750 Nm (553 lb-ft) of torque, resulting in a 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) acceleration time of just 3.7 seconds.

You have to admit, that’s impressive in a car that weighs 2,025 kg (4,465 lbs) and can comfortably get the job done as a daily driver / lugger for the whole family.

Still, if it’s getting noticed you want, all you need to do is put the car in Dynamic mode in order to really get that exhaust to crackle at all the right frequencies.

Furthermore, the RS6 remains an extremely dynamic and handsome estate from a visual perspective, so odds are you’ll still be drawing loads of appreciative looks from people who actually know their cars.

If you do decide this is the car for you and your family, you need to beware its price tag of £79,505 – which can even break the £100,000 barrier if you’re not careful with the options list.
