Volvo V60 Is Due For A Refresh, And This Is What It Could Look Like

With the new 90 series now complete, Volvo can now turn its attention to the rest of its aging lineup. The 40 series may be the next to be replaced, but the Swedish automaker is going to need to spend some resources on its mid-range 60 series. And this is what the result could look like.

Sources speculate that, before the S60 and V60 are replaced altogether, Volvo will give those models a facelift to more closely emulate the larger 90-series models. So rendering artist Remco of RM Car Design worked up these images to show what the V60 wagon would look like with some V90-derived styling elements – including more sharply creased sheetmetal and those “Thor’s Hammer” headlights.

Introduced in 2010, the current V60 and its S60 sedan counterpart are at least starting to show their age. Though a complete replacement will be needed sooner than later, a bit of a refresh would help Gothenburg take a bigger slice of the pie shared by the likes of the Audi A4, BMW 3 Series, Mercedes C-Class et al.

Expect the updated models to launch sometime in the new year, bringing with it Volvo’s latest powertrain, safety, and infotainment technologies to go with the revised styling.

wow a v90 in different color, that’s an awesome rendering guys. granted, it would be nice if it were just a shrunk down v90

A Volvo V90 with smaller and more maneuverable body for narrower roads like in my country? YES please! Uh, would you please make Cross Country version out of it, Volvo? 🙂

Looks very good, but I hope it will have a lot more space in the rear for passengers. V40, V50 and V60 were all very poor in that area.

If they do revamp the 60 before it’s replacement arrives, it’ll be a light refresh at most with Thors Hammer lamps and slight tweaks to the rear lamps. They might try and put a slightly bigger screen in the cockpit too. Don’t expect a mini 90, that’ll be the new car that’s a few years away yet.

That is pretty much what it could NOT look like. Why would they use an old design based on even older concept cars?
Shouldn’t we look at newer concepts, like the 40.x to see were they are going designwise?

No. It’s sexy, but it doesn’t advance the language like the 90 series.

Nice rendering. The current V60 has a side window profile that is kind of sloppy looking, and doesn’t go with the overall shape of the roof and D pillar. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/1d9d0e1654788b9c55c468b38e84a7dc49de1b38cd02edc3cc15314c54d8bbe3.jpg

See these are the types of refreshes I frown upon. I get why you would face lift the S60/V60 to be look in line with your new design direction but it won’t have the technology behind it. Then when you come out with the brand new S60/V60 it will not look as revolutionary because you will essentially be using the same face that you used on the refresh for the all new model. I felt this exact way when Mercedes refreshed the E-class and then used a similar face for the new model.
