Seattle PD Officer Runs Over Suspect’s Legs With His Car

Dashcam footage from an April 2016 incident surfaced recently showing a Seattle Police officer running over a suspect’s legs while responding to a burglary call.

Even though it appears to have been an accident, Sgt Christopher Snyder of the SPD failed to recognize the way the suspect was positioned as he drove his cruiser a couple of feet forward.

Officers on the scene did request for a paramedic, although according to the description of the video, whether or not there was an internal investigation of the incident, remains unknown.

Before the officer came face to face with the suspect, he spotted a  man wearing the same (or similar, it’s not clear from the footage) jacket on the sidewalk at around 4 minutes and 40 seconds into the video, when he also instructed him to lay down on the ground repeatedly, but the man declined and kept walking away.

If it’s the same person (we can’t say with certainty), this may have made Officer Snyder want to rush proceedings and take him into custody as soon as possible, though that doesn’t mean he shouldn’t have paid more attention.

I get it. So because a car was at all involved with this story, it was legit posting material on a car blog. Brilliant.

Are you mad because Carscoops has a click-bait post, or because you clicked on it…and commented on it?

      • dumblikeyou2

And somehow you assessed that I was mad. Even more brilliant, genius.

        • ChrisInIL

Ah, so it was just whining. Thanks for clearing that up.

          • dumblikeyou2

Yes, it was clear that you were whining to me. No problem.

          • ChrisInIL

Your deflection doesn’t work here. Just some friendly advice – when you use it in a disagreement, it only makes you look foolish.

            What else do you have?

          • dumblikeyou2

Sure, whatever you’d like to admit. No problem. You think yourself a fool. No argument here.

          • ChrisInIL

It is truly disappointing that you won’t try something other than deflection.

            Have a nice day!

          • dumblikeyou2

            Yes, you are disappointing. Agreed.

  • BlackPegasus

He will mostly face physical disabilities for the rest of his life. Which means he will be on government assistance. Thanks Seattle Police. Your negligence continue to cost tax payers.

  • Krisnadi Imam

he forgot to put it on P nor put the handbrake on.

I hate to say this, but this is weird. This seems a little strange that this suspect laid on the ground in front of the police car. If I’m ever told by police to get down on the ground, I will avoid the path of any police car…if possible. Maybe he was drunk or something. The police car was still rolling up, and suspect picked his spot to lay down. Cop should have stopped his car, but probably never imagined the guy lying down in the path. Weird.
