2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon Makes Another Online Appearance

The odds of the car you see in these pictures not being the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon are slimmer than a goldfish’s chances in a tank of Piranhas.

The uploader, Instagram user Illegal_machine, says the car “popped up in Miami for a Pittbull video”.

As rightly noted by the folks over at Jalopnik, everything from the enormous hood scoop and the fender badge to the massively wide tires places under the fender extensions, match what we’ve seen from the official teasers as well as that Fast & Furious clip from December.

Dodge’s ongoing pre-launch campaign has already dropped six video clips, with nine more remaining before the big reveal at the 2017 New York Auto Show in April.

What we know so far about the Demon is that it will be 215 pounds (nearly 100kg) lighter than the Hellcat having seating for one – driver only, while at the same time, promising to deliver more than the latter’s 707hp from a tuned supercharged V8 engine that will be paired to a modified automatic transmission.

Look what popped up in Miami for a Pittbull video. #uno #dos #tres #quatro #dale' #demon #dodge #Challenger #hellcatA post shared by Ill Mac (@illegal_machine) on Feb 17, 2017 at 3:15pm PST

‘necks…are not the only ones that like muscle cars. To each his/her own.

aw come on dude, rednecks wear the title proudly with a smile, i think he was just having fun.
          We’re too sensitive these days

        • SetNick

I try. To much hostility in the comments sections. We all should love and appreciate what manufacturers are able to do for us now. It’s going to go away and everything will be a battery and eventually, we won’t even touch a steering wheel. I am sorry, but this just makes a car-guy sad. 😔

      • Six Thousand Times

I’ve got a Mustang. It’s just a natural rivalry. I also like the Camaro except that you can’t see out of it. I’d’ve had one if the ergonomics worked for me. The Challenger is just old, fat. and ugly. Like a woman in her later years, trying to wear the halter top and miniskirt she wore in 1970. Just wrong and sad. Putting big wheelarches and an enormous scoop on it is like slapping more makeup on Tammy Faye Baker. Yeccch!

Its funny, My Family’s 2015 RT Challenger gets more pussy than a Mustang, or Camaro.

        • SetNick

True, but as this world grows more encompassed by people that don’t appreciate driver cars (you and I don’t fall in that group clearly), I can’t blame them for what they are doing. I mean, it would be cheaper to repair after someone bumps or hits the car. I here you on the rivalry. I hope it never ends. I like all three: Mustang, Camaro, and the Challenger.

      • Bo Hanan

Why wasn’t more done cosmetically to differentiate this car from your standard SRT?

        • SetNick

I think they spent all the extra money in the drivetrain. I pray they did to make it worthy of the name “Demon.” One that has power to four wheels. I hope driving straight isn’t the point of this vehicle. Turning left and right should be.

          Guess I was wrong…

    • Alexkepa12

and you’ll be shitting yourself when that Demon does a 200 MPH flyby.

  • Shobin Drogan

Looks menacing but the wheels don’t look like they suit the car.

    • donald seymour

      True.

    • Kailas B

It seems like a prototype. They will probably change the wheels, or make new ones. Right now, I think they are just for functional purposes.

  • Tumbi Mtika

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles again getting their priorities straight…

  • Matt

I am a Mustang Guy and was very interested in the car until the whole “it has one seat” thing. Sounds like it is just another drag car like the Mustang Cobra Jet, they released a few years back. Or the Camaro drag car you could buy from the factory. Bummer.

Oh well, here’s hoping the GT500 is awesome.
