Mercedes-Maybach G650 Landaulet Sends Out Current G-Class

A few short days after images of it leaked online, the Mercedes-Maybach G650 Landaulet has officially debuted, following in the footsteps of the G63 AMG 6×6 and G500 4×42..

This beastly off-roader is only the fifth model to be created by Mercedes’ new overhauled Maybach division and its very first SUV. Just 99 examples will be produced with each perfectly combining extreme off-road ability with uncompromised luxury.

Beneath the bodywork, the G650 Landaulet features AMG’s biturbo 6.0-liter V12 engine delivering 630 hp and 1,000 Nm of torque. To give the model exceptional abilities off the beaten path, it includes similar portal axles to its siblings. Additionally, it is fitted with 100 per cent differential locks as well as a low off-road ratio transfer case. There’s also a remarkable 450 mm of ground clearance and a set of huge 325/55 R22 wheels.

As the name of the vehicle suggests, it features a retractable fabric section for the second half of the roof. This provides rear seat passenger with an open cockpit experience bolstered by the same rear seats as the S-Class. Passengers at the rear can therefore enjoy a host of massaging features including a hot-stone massage. There are also thermal cup holders and two tables that fold out of the center console.

Customers of the G650 Landaulet can choose between three different colors for the fabric top alongside four different paint finishes.

The model will debut at March’s Geneva Motor Show 2017.

Can we take a moment and think a bit about the comfort of those seats directly on top of a solid axle?

    • Elmediterraneo

This is stupidest “Mercedes-Maybach” for the moment, glad for Daimler that’s a limited edition because I can’t conceive a Maybach where you have the spare tyre just behind your head.

    • Matt

This has portal axles. Not sure how they ride though.

      • europeon

It’s the same thing, the axle design is identical, there is no functional difference. The portal gears just elevate it a bit higher.

  • Elmediterraneo

This Maybach G650 Landaulet ends the current W463 generation.
The new W464 is more than another facelift because the underpinnings, engines, transmission and electronics will be all-new. And the most important new model would be a regular G63 4×4 with the new 612 PS 4.0 liter V8. The G500 422 PS wasn’t that enough for such a car…

  • EM1

Good enough for a dictator who needs to impress his buddies through the Congo yet I can find any practical application for it elsewhere. The ragtop suffers from blindspots plus it will get dirty easily in that beige color. Perhaps leaving it in the same body color would have also made it look less tacky. I’ll be happy with the standard G Wagon body style without all the wasted flair.

    • don’t worry, it will appear in TG ou TGT for the fun, than will seat in a Sultan’s garage or Parade in Dubai. If practical was on the list of things do to with this car, it wouldn’t exist.

  • Matt

This may be the stupidest car Mercedes has ever made.

And I am glad they did.

  • it’s fun, and I’d like to meet the guy who said “sure that’s great Idea, let’s make that!”… But it’s an insult to Maybach name and legacy.

  • Six Thousand Times

If you have to ask why, then you obviously don’t get it. I obviously don’t so I won’t ask.

In the west women tan themselves. Part of the reason is to seem so affluent that they have leisure time to spend outdoors, doing nothing. In India women bleach their skins. Part of the reason is to seem so affluent they don’t have to spend time outdoors like peasants, who are dark skinned.

Here the driver is nice and cozy and the billionaires in the back are either hot or cold, maybe wet, possibly sunburned. I don’t understand this car…

  • Tumbi Mtika

    Get shit on, Wilhelm.

  • Bob

Africa rejoice! This will transform the Safari experience immensely!

    • Miknik

Or, if you are some prince/sheikh in Dubai, Riad or Abu Dhabi, you don’t need to leave your car for falcon hunting anymore. That is just such a relief for the world…

      • T_Cake

Please, please write them to suggest this. The Mercedes-Maybach G650 Landaulet Falconer Edition could be released in an even more limited run just in time for Christmas. And just think how good a set of cheesy Firebird-themed hood graphics would look. It’d be a smash hit.

        • Miknik

I think this car lends itself to numerous special editions. The falcon detailing (though, to please truly rich customers, should be hand painted by slave workers instead of decals ;-)) is one, but I also see a Dictator special, where the central champagne cooler is replaced with a browning machine gun, so that you can shoot peasants who forget to smile while waving at your parade..

  • fabri99

    I wish I didn’t like it as much as I do…

  • perfect ,i need one !

  • StrangerGP

There are 99 African dictators in the world? Wow I didn’t know that.

  • Belthronding Tinuviel

arab multi millionaires, russian mafias and black rappers will buy it because it is ridicilously expensive and that color is disgusting,so they will attact people’s attention.
