Father Killed By Carjackers Because His Vehicle Had A Manual Gearbox

A father was shot and killed in Houston, Texas after two would-be carjackers attempted to steal his car.

ABC13 reports that Pedro Aguilar, 47, was just outside his home in an apartment complex with his wife and 10-year-old daughter when two men in their early 20’s approached him in an attempt to steal his car.

However, the two young men were unable to operate his vehicle’s stick shift and out of nowhere, shot him.

Police say that the two men fled the scene and have yet to be found.

What makes the story all the more tragic is that just two years earlier, Aguilar had brought his entire family to the United States from El Salvador in an attempt to escape gang violence.

    Just terrible.

    God rest his soul.

    • JimmyK

Lets hope the police will find them

      • Bash

        they should.

  • kachuks

Animals like this are the reason states should have kept the electric chair.

  • b_digital

RIP Pedro. Rest in Heaven my brother

    • smartacus

i thought you leftists don’t believe in Heaven

  • Ilbirs

Terrible to see this and I fear that American thugs can gradually start acting like we see here in Brazil, where it’s common to see criminals shooting people for dumb reasons like not having money to give or acting in even more psycopathic ways because they know that law won’t reach them due to being underaged. Don’t let this kind of thing happen there and I hope that police finds and captures these people.
Don’t let some so-called “specialists” that appear in media convince you that someone commits a crime because of poverty or a supposed oppression from the society that catalyses a supposed act against this society, as if the society acts like a nest of social insects that looks like a giant organism. You must also not give room to the divide to conquer actions, as they take apart good people that, when together, impose fear to politicians who love the us-against-them rhetoric. It’s politicians and their useful idiot puppets that must fear pacific people, not the opposite. Remember that I said “pacific”, not “pacifist”, because some leaders want people to be pacifist because pacifist tend to be lenient to injustices, violence and corruption.

My sentiments to the Aguilar family and their beloved ones that now are mourning the loss of Pedro.

  • Honda NSX-R

My condolences to Pedro’s family. May he rest in peace.

  • Bash

this is terrible, and beyond crazy, these two should be put behind bars for life, better yet a death penalty!
    RIP pedro.

  • Nordschleife

This is lunacy. My condolences to his family.

  • XtremWize

Glad to live in peacefull Europe where nobody has weapens exept the police.

    • smartacus

Well then i guess you haven’t heard about the grenade attacks following turk-kurd (Turd) migrant clashes in Malmo Park section of Stockholm 🙂

      • XtremWize

Yep, maybe it happens once every five years, but not five (or more) each day as in the US.

        • smartacus

Yep, more proof idiots like you believe in fake news.
No wonder you are a lefty dirtbag.
          Nobody has grenades in USA
and European immigration issues has only been around for the last couple of years.
With the skyrocketing rates of crime in Europe surgically precisely paralleling recent immigration.

**I have to thank you for proving my point even better than i could have alone 🙂

          • dhoosee

Hey Smartacus, are you aware of what is happening on Chicago’s south & west sides? Shootings and killings EVERY night here. XtremWize was probably referring to the prevalence of various forms of violence in the US, not just grenade attacks. Europe, in general, IS peaceful. “Nobody has grenades in USA?” Hell..we have WORSE! Remember Tim McVeigh, the nut that took out half of the Federal Building in OK City with a fertilizer bomb? Harris/Kleibold shooting up Columbine with automatic weapons? Gang members and street thugs with more powerful arsenals than the police, and very little regard for law-abiding citizens? The list goes on…..

This being a car forum, keep it automotive! Which leads me to the recent announcement that President Don is about ready to roll-back pollution standards that forced automakers to make cleaner burning and more efficient automobiles, in order to make it easier for his big-business buddies to turn profits.

Maybe, with the new and relaxed standards, POTUS DT will bring back the ’57 Bel Air along with leaded gas, and 12 MPG fuel burn. That should “Make America Great Again!”

          • smartacus

Hey dhoosee, never start off talking down to me with
            “you are aware of something”

You are aware Chicago and DC have the strictest gun control in the nation
and still the most gun crimes in the nation .
You are aware Vermont has open-Constitutional Carry and the safest place to be.

You are aware Oklahoma City was an act of terrorism?
You are aware he was not acting alone.

You are aware YOU JUST CANCELLED YOURSELF OUT by saying Columbine had automatic firearms. LOL 🙂 ouch, the rest is easy:

This being a car forum, you tell ME to keep it automotive, but don’t tell the others who actually started it from keeping it automotive…. because you are in some desperate attempt to gain some sort of control in life. You pretty much declared you have a confidence problem.

You just got finished saying keep it automotive, then turn right around and make it about Trump????? i knew it was right there just below the surface. You are still crying Hillarity lost.

You lost, but you went further and made sure you lost HARDER.
Which is fine by me. I don’t mind at all

      • TheBelltower

You don’t see the difference between what is happening in Europe and what’s happening here? It’s very uncommon for guns to be used in random thefts.

        • Jay

Don’t bother arguing with them, even when proven wrong they refuse to accept the truth. They result in insulting you or changing the subject.

          • smartacus

Nobody here mistakes you as a sane individual.
You’ve long since proven that for the last few months.

          • Jay

sorry, your opinions don’t matter to me. I’m sure someone else here cares though…

          • smartacus

the whole world is wrong except you.
No wonder i humiliated you last time.

          • Jay

still wasting you time I see, good luck with that..

          • smartacus

haha! NOW I CAUGHT YOU IN ANOTHER LIE!!!
aw man you are so easy to humiliate!!

You just got finished saying you don’t care what i think of you.
And then you turn around and just have to comment.
So you are a loser and a liar too

          • Jay

ever notice how the world still turns no matter what you think, that proves that what you say doesn’t matter to me 🙂 , waste more time replying to me and Ill waste my time replying to you. just know we are not getting anywhere with this argument.

          • smartacus

no YOU are the one who cares what people think and you lied you didn’t
i CAUGHT YOU IN A LIE ONCE AGAIN.

i have zero problem humiliating you further.
right now i am slapping you to the tune of the cancan dance

          • Jay

            thank you.

          • smartacus

what kind of bankrupt reply is that?
            Thanking me for humiliating you?
            I never understood masochists.
            … uh
Oh well, yes you are easy to humiliate
And you are easier to expose as a liar

          • Jay

            thanks again.

          • smartacus

            yes i know,
            i’m feeding
            your hunger
            for receiving pain

          • Jay

just saying thanks for proving how crazy you are. You’re doing all the work so, thanks yet again.

          • smartacus

uh… you are crying, your mascara is running,
and you are turning around and saying
everyone else is crying but not you,
oh no you are laughing… laughing.

          • Jay

Again with the crying and mascara running joke lol..

          • smartacus

because your mascara is running again from all your crying, lol

          • Jay

            oh right, thanks.

          • smartacus

          • Jay

I leave for work in a few hours but we can waste some more time with this.. carry on..

          • smartacus

Because you were lying when you said you don’t care what i think.
you DO care, it means so much to you that you are even losing sleep over it.
Time to admit it. You have been expose aaaand humiliated ONCE AGAIN… by me
Your next comment will come to me half a day later.

          • Jay

            this comment?

          • smartacus

now you are short-changing your sleep just to not lose?
            Fine by me.

          • Jay

            Wrong again.

          • smartacus

            you’re lying again!
you just said you leave for work in a few hours.
you just got finished calling in sick between comments?

          • Jay

it’s fun watching you embarrass yourself, please carry on..

          • smartacus

it’s fun watching you repeat my words to you
as if you thought of them yourself.
Please carry on losing your sleep 🙂

          • Jay

            Your words?

          • smartacus

            you repeated my words.
i see you are getting sleepy with your two word responses.
you can’t go to sleep because i’m still here 🙂
You’re gonna be missing work in a few hours.

          • Jay

no, I slept a majority of the day.
you said humiliating, I said embarrass, either way you don’t own any words.

          • smartacus

and you went there. you are so bankrupt of anything to say
now you are accusing me of saying i own words.
YOU are embarrassing yourself more and more

          • Jay

            that’s you.

          • smartacus

            no that’s you

          • Jay

            says only you.

          • smartacus

again, your replies are using smaller and fewer words.
you REALLY need to get some sleep.
c’mon, your pillow and your blanket
            are just waiting for you.
            It’s getting late.
You know you want to get a little bit of rest.
You don’t want to call out sick and miss work
just because you had to stay up commenting to me

          • Jay

You’re only showing how much you want this to be over.

          • smartacus

haha! you are using my words AGAIN!
You really need to get some rest.
You’re so tired your eyes are getting heavy

          • Jay

wide awake… anything else you want to go over?

          • smartacus

            no you are not.
            Lying again.
            if you were wide awake,
you would not feel the need to say so.

You want me to go over something else?
OK, why are you punishing yourself?
You don’t have to be here.
            I’m hardwired for this,
            you are not.

            I feed off this,
you are being eaten by this.
What would cause you to want to destroy yourself like this?

Are you trying to get back at your mother??

          • Jay

I’m here wasting time.. I thought I explained that to you already…

          • smartacus

you are wasting your sleep time. You explained that to me already

          • Jay

I explained I slept a majority of the day, that’s why I’m not tired now. Another reason I’m here wasting time with you..

          • smartacus

            boxed you in AGAIN!
more proof you really DO care what i think
            you lied that you didn’t!

          • Jay

wrong again. I didn’t say I never care, just didn’t at that time.

          • smartacus

you said my opinions don’t matter to you.
you did not say and you did not mean my opinions did not matter to you at the time

          • Jay

You assume I meant all of your opinions..

          • smartacus

OK, with that you truly are tired and in need of bed rest.
You are now firmly in The Land Of The Lost-This-One

          • Jay

No just on my way to work. Gonna be a great day 🙂

          • smartacus

did you even catch one hour of sleep?

          • Jay

            Earlier in the day yes.

          • smartacus

            then you either lost sleep
            or you lost driving time

          • Jay

            No you’re just wrong.

          • smartacus

            No, you’re just lying 🙂

          • Jay

            That’s your assumption.

          • smartacus

and nope, your reasonable doubt does not extend over fact.

          • Jay

Fact is, you’ve been wrong since the beginning.

          • smartacus

^^said the person who was wrong since the beginning

          • Jay

that is just anything to say

          • smartacus

^^now THAT is just anything to say

          • Jay

monkey see monkey do is anything to say.

          • smartacus

You sound even more tired than last time 🙂

          • Jay

why have you strayed away from the subject so much?

          • smartacus

            you did

          • Jay

            lol you’re pathetic.

          • smartacus

you have attention deficit and you can’t even sit and think

          • Jay

You seem to have a memory problem, my driving job allow me to sit and think all day.. not to mention how many things I have to pay attention to and concentrate on.

          • smartacus

Then what are you doing on the internet while behind the wheel?

So you have all day to think, but you obviously can’t drive and think at the same time.

          • Jay

Obviously you have to think in order to drive, every second brings different scenarios and opportunities to think about.

          • Jay

Of course I am only on the internet while the vehicle isn’t moving nor am I in the driver seat.

          • Jay

when did I say “I am wasting sleep time”?

          • smartacus

oh you didn’t admit to it as such.
You just made it obvious with your
            skills at subtlety. Mwahahahahaha!

          • Jay

            Evil laughter!!

          • smartacus

are you sure you can drive to work, you’re so tired you can’t even think straight

          • Jay

            My work is driving…

          • smartacus

            then you are not
            Jay The Thinker,
            but Jay The Driver

No wonder you think so slow

          • I’mCallingYouOut

            this is fake, fake comment!

          • smartacus

            now you are in desperation

she is trying the “so negative! sad” comment.
            aw yeah that will work
            :O

          • dhoosee

Jay, this guy is a real number!

Reading through the entire string reveals that:

            1) He always believes that he is always right,
            2) He always has to be on top; to be one-up on everyone else,
            3) Everyone who “challenges” him is ultimately “defeated” by him,
            4) He’s far more clever than all of us, and consistently catches liars with the greatest of ease.
            5) He’s really getting his rocks-off from all of the attention that you, I, and others are giving to him.

Narcissistic Personality Disorder…I just hope that he’s taking his meds.

          • I’mCallingYouOut

Caps lock! Trolls looooove caps lock.

          • smartacus

            Noticing the Caps Lock
is the last refuge of the defeated
            🙂

        • smartacus

You don’t see how stupidly wrong you are being misled by the media???

Let me summarize it like this: Chicago has the most gun crimes and the strictest gun laws.
Vermont has the least gun crimes and the most lax, wear-your-gun openly culture.

When you criminalize gun ownership, only criminals will own guns.
Gun crimes happen in UK, in Germany, France, Sweden, etc.
They just found a massive cache of guns used in crimes in Spain!

If everyone had a gun, an equally armed society would be a VERY POLITE society.

          • TheBelltower

I’m not being misled by anyone. I know first hand what’s going on in both Chicago and in Vermont. And no one will tell you this, because it is an un-winable argument, but the only way to get guns out of circulation is to completely eliminate the non essential gun industry. You don’t need an arsenal in your basement or a semiautomatic gun to hunt deer or bear. Vermont has the second to lowest population in the country and does not have the same socioeconomic profile as neighboring states. But Vermont also doesn’t live in a bubble. The lax gun laws there are not helpful to the adjoining states with higher populations. Many of the guns used in violent crimes in more populous states originate from Vermont. I completely understand the mentality of those in rural areas of the country. It sounds insane to suggest that guns aren’t a fundamental right. However guns are an addiction in this country that we have gotten too used to.

          • smartacus

oh YES YOU ARE BEING MISLED!! Your comment is proof positive!
Even Australia has gun crimes, and there is NO gun industry there!
There is no private gun ownership there. Nothing!

Criminals will ALWAYS HAVE GUNS. Guns in the hands of regular citizens is the ONLY thing you can do because GUN CRIME WILL NEVER STOP.
i know i will never convince you, but i’m not gonna give up trying as if there is a chance.

          • TheBelltower

            Let’s see how I’m being misled…

There was private gun ownership in Australia up until 1996, when they initiated a gun buyback program resulting from a single mass shooting that killed over thirty people. That event would make national news in the US for about a week, then fade away to make room for another mass shooting. Gun violence, relative to the US, has never been an issue in AU. There were under 700 gun related deaths in 1986 and those numbers declined steadily to barely over 200 in 2015. They haven’t had a single mass shooting since the gun buyback program. To put that into perspective, every day, over 90 people are killed by gun violence in the US. There were 372 mass shootings in the US in 2015 alone. I agree with you that gun violence will never stop. But there’s a difference between what we have today, which is complete uncontrollable culture of gun violence that we have cultivated and encouraged. And then there’s what it should be, which is the rare instance of gun violence.

          • smartacus

Except you’re wrong and that’s what i’m going to get through to you with.
New Zealand is culturally and geographically similar,
they haven’t enacted any gun buyback.
They are not experience any higher rates than Australia.

In 2000 the Australian Institute of Criminology reported “the homicide rate for Australia has stayed remarkably constant” despite the gun ban.

But Australia’s gun buyback program DID create a violent firearms black market, thank you.
You call it Gun Culture, i believe you meant to say Gun Violence Culture as is being perpetuated by the media/entertainment industry.
Gun Violence is how movies and TV make their money.
That’s not gun-owners in America perpetuation that garbage.
Why are we always blaming legal guns and legal gun owners?

FYI, i’m sure you know: U.S. homicide rate declined by nearly half (49%), from 9.3 homicides per 100,000 U.S. residents in 1992 to 4.7 in 2011, falling to the lowest level since 1963.

          • TheBelltower

Okay, hang your hat on an Australian report conducted seventeen years ago. The numbers since then prove that that wasn’t accurate. In spite of overall crime falling steadily since the 70s, that doesn’t hide the reality that our murder rate is two-dozen times that of other developed countries. We have pockets of violence in this country that people in rural areas simply don’t understand.

          • smartacus

Noooo problem. i like your resistance to the truth, it makes it more interesting.
Australia’s gun crimes have not been significantly reduced due to the gun ban.
that is simply fact. Sorry if it doesn’t fit your narrative.

Legal guns and legal gun owners are simply not the cause of gun crimes 🙂

          • TheBelltower

You are cherry picking your facts and your last line is a strawman argument that you are using to ease away from what we are talking about, and I’m not addressing it. Gun violence has always been incredibly low in Australia, and still it was reduced by well over half. Mass shootings haven’t happened there in nearly two decades. Relative to what we see in the US, gun deaths in AU have been brought down to practically nothing… the low-three-digits. I’m fine if you want to disagree, but them’s the facts that reflect the country that you chose to illustrate your logic. Your obviously faulty logic.

          • smartacus

nope, YOU were cherry picking YOUR facts as YOUR strawman which i’m knocking down and i WILL get through to you as i promised.

“There were under 700 gun related deaths in 1986 and those numbers declined steadily to barely over 200 in 2015. They haven’t had a single mass shooting since the gun buyback program. To put that into perspective, every day, over 90 people are killed by gun violence in the US. There were 372 mass shootings in the US in 2015 alone”

if THAT isn’t cherry picking ….
Look I’m sorry if you are losing and you want to desperately hold onto your fallacious religious beliefs in the causes of gun violence. The truth isn’t always easy

          • TheBelltower

Thank you for reiterating the information I provided to you on the country you selected, and not arguing any of it. My winning or losing this argument is of absolutely no consequence. So I’ll let you decide how it’s going. We are done for now. G’nite mate.

          • smartacus

            And now i got you.
Now i realize I AM getting through to you.

You desperately attempted to save your religious belief
in legal guns and lawful gun owners as the cause of gun crimes.

So you resorted to saying I’m cherry picking information,
when in fact it was YOU who was cherry picking information.
I pointed out your own words:
“There were under 700 gun related deaths in 1986 and those numbers declined steadily to barely over 200 in 2015. They haven’t had a single mass shooting since the gun buyback program. To put that into perspective, every day, over 90 people are killed by gun violence in the US. There were 372 mass shootings in the US in 2015 alone”

i’m sorry to expose you as lying when you said i was agreeing with your cherry picking.
Because i obviously did say in my next reply to your cherry picking that:
“-New Zealand is culturally and geographically similar,
they haven’t enacted any gun buyback.
They are not experience any higher rates than Australia
-In 2000 the Australian Institute of Criminology reported ‘the homicide rate for Australia has stayed remarkably constant’ despite the gun ban.
-But Australia’s gun buyback program DID create a violent firearms black market”

            So now we are here:
I am getting through to you that 1+1=2
I have demonstrated to you how 1+1=2
and you are reduced to saying 1+1 ≠ 2

          • TheBelltower

I didn’t address your New Zealand comment because it was a red herring. To compare the small island country of NZ that has a population of 4.5M to Australia with 23M people spread among a land mass that’s nearly the size of the US, to the US with 320M people is inherently flawed. You are correct about one thing though. Your math doesn’t work.

          • smartacus

oh that’s fiiine, i see you are pushed into a corner
and lashing out in a defensive posture.

Not a problem; I’ve educated far more determined people before.
            FAAAR MORE DETERMINED PEOPLE BEFORE.
i will now repeat it because it is not a red herring:

New Zealand is culturally and geographically similar
and does not experience a higher per capita gun crime rate
despite not having an Australian style gun ban.

BTW, you saw how France with their extremely strict gun control
            can’t prevent attacks on high-schools.
            http://www.breitbart.com/london/2017/03/16/strict-gun-control-powerless-as-attacker-opens-fire-on-high-school-in-france/

…At this point; just give me your final closely-held reasons that you can’t bear to part with so i can clear through those and bring you up to speed.
(hope i’m not hurting you or anything)

          • TheBelltower

I’m so painted into a corner that you are now struggling to maintain your position, and bringing up France and providing links to Breitbart. That provided a chuckle! I’m beginning to see a pattern with your now-look-over-there distraction tactics. My final, closely-held reasons that I can’t bear to part with are… your comparisons are amateurish and don’t hold water. I’ve explained why, and it’s not worth the bother for me to continue to talk to a brick wall. Choose to agree, or don’t.

          • smartacus

yes, that’s pretty much proof you are painted in a corner.
Look , i didn’t mean to hurt you, you know that.
But i’m still going to enlighten you because i’ve gotten through to much more stubborn people before.

            Now i’ve seen that before
where they convince themselves that the proof is not proof, etc.
I don’t understand why leftists, socialists, and nationalist socialists all fear guns.
I never understood well-meaning people siding with HlTLER’s gun registration and confiscation efforts.

Lawful Gun Ownership is not the problem,
            it is the solution.
Mass restrictions on gun ownership never works.

i understand if you take it personally as guns are bad because you like movies and now you have to be concerned over movie theater shootings and gay nightclub shootings, and whatever else. But the killers ALWAYS choose unarmed targets. If they knew there’s more chance of a target being armed, that is a massive deterrent.

See that’s the one dirty little secret nobody talks about…
The astronomical yet unreported number of lives actually saved by being armed.

          • TheBelltower

How is it that you can be so verbose without actually saying anything beyond canned rhetoric? Again, you’ve changed your discussion from the US to AU to NZ to France…all countries with substantially lower rates of gun violence, all countries with strict gun control measures. So thanks for illustrating my position. Now you’re bringing up a gay nightclub. Of course realize the the Orlando shooter was shot dead. Don’t you? He was not concerned with return gunfire by the patrons or by the police. But evidently in your head, you think that bars and clubs should be filled with fully armed drunken crowds of people till 4am. Yeah, that would be awesome.

          • smartacus

            That’s fine.
            All over the world,
            Gun Control fails.
            Everyone know this.

Whether in US, or AU, or France, or Sweden,
btw you heard there was yet another shooting/stabbing in Sweden right?
The evidence is right there for anyone to see.

Just check the statistics on firearm murders between European and US citizens, you’ll be amazed.

    • Christian

and everybody knows to drive a stick!

    • smartacus

Europe is less safe the USA,

        • smartacus

except your bullying doesn’t work on me.
you are losing sleep over it
(you already admitted it an hour ago)

          • Jay

liar, I admitted I had work in a few hours. never admitted I was losing sleep.

          • smartacus

liar, you admitted you have to sleep
you did indeed say you have to work in a few hours
you also asked in the comment before that if i am done.

You clearly want this to be over with already.
Why are you beating yourself up.
You can be sleeping in that warm bed right now
instead you have to be here with me.

          • smartacus

            involuntarily

          • Jay

          • Jay

and yet still a waste of our time.

          • smartacus

            wait! that was incoherent.
That’s not even a response to what i just said.
            You are losing your grip.
ok NOW i know you are really fighting the urge to sleep.

          • smartacus

          • Jay

I see what you did there…

          • smartacus

          • Jay

          • Jay

            is that better?

          • smartacus

            so you publish then proofread.
You’re so tired you want to get that reply out there to appear like you aren’t dozing

          • Jay

I admit that I’m not perfect. Like you, I make typos.

          • smartacus

            you’re not perfect like me?
            You’re not even perfect like
disbared lawyer Bill Clinton the rapist

          • Jay

perfect like you? I see you’re still making up things..

          • smartacus

            that’s not even a reply

          • Jay

            That’s your opinion.

          • smartacus

            no that’s fact.
that’s not an actual reply, that is desperation.
Everyone looking at that can see it.

          • Jay

You’re saying it was a fake reply? Looked like a reply, posted as one so now you’re in denial.

      • antbee

That is a really horribly mean and awful thing to say to anyone, regardless if you know them or not.
I just had to jump in to say that, I’m out.

        • smartacus

i agree. why did she have to say she is glad she lives in Europe where nobody has weapons except the police.

When that is just so insensitive to all those disarmed people in Europe.
Just today i read about a high school being shot up in France,
an army arsenal of weapons found in spain
          and another shooting/stabbing in Sweden.

I did my part by answering her words with my own.
          i did it for everyone

    • smartacus

meanwhile a letter bomb in Paris just injured an IMF employee 🙂

  • smartacus

    He was in Texas.
Texans are allowed to have a gun for self-defense.

This counter-culture of shying away from guns is costing lives.
The bad guys will ALWAYS have their guns.

  • Trackhacker

This is why you don’t live in America.

    • smartacus

Go live in Sweden where you will be raped.
oh they will like you, lefty.

And thanks for agreeing on the principle
that all those people invading into the USA should stay home

  • Enter Ranting

But if Pedro, his wife and 10 year old daughter had been armed with guns, this tragedy would have been avoided, right NRA? Isn’t that how it works? Good guys constantly holding guns, ready to shoot as soon as there’s a sign of trouble. Sell everyone guns, not because the gun industry makes exponentially more profit, but because innocent people need to protect themselves against people with guns.
