Spied: 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS Reveals Its Interior For The First Time

While Mercedes kept everyone busy with their new AMG GT Concept in Geneva, the company’s development team removed most of the heavy camouflage from the CLS test cars, revealing its sexy bodywork lines for the first time.

With the test car only covered with a thin wrap, very little has been left to the imagination; in fact, the new CLS looks like the perfect combination between the E-Class and the E-Class Coupe.

The same goes for the interior, with our spies able to take a really good look at, revealing the gorgeous dashboard design Mercedes applies to its latest models. Yes, it may look almost the same with the E-Class but that interior is one of the best currently out there so we don’t complain.

The new generation of the Mercedes CLS will be based on the same underpinnings with the E-Class, featuring a slightly longer and wider body which are mandatory for the four-door coupe styling.

The available engines will also be taken from the E-Class, including the fire-breathing powertrains equipping the E43 and E63 AMG versions, while we also expect to see a plug-in hybrid powertrain making its appearance in the new CLS range.

Unfortunately, our intel tells us that there will be no Shooting Brake version this time around due to the slow sales of the previous model. Don’t be sad though as Mercedes is planning to indirectly replace the Shooting Brake with the production version of the AMG GT Concept shown at the Geneva Motor Show.

As for the new Mercedes CLS, the company is planning an official reveal later this year.

Yawn, it now will look like a C,E and S class. There goes the only everyday Benz I liked.

  • B

Mercedes cls was always unique because it had more different interior than standard E class. To be honest, I’m really disappointed to see that it will have almost the same like e class, mainly coupe version, but it makes sense somehow. And these headlights, dunno what to think.

I thought Mercedes would give CLS it’s own interior considering the fact that the current CLS has interior like no other Mercedes. I love E-Class interior but CLS should be more special.
PS: Did you notice the light rings that illuminates the air vents? E-Class Coupe doesn’t have them.

  • Nordschleife

I was hoping for a little more bespoke interior. I get that the E-class interior is gorgeous but c’mon Mercedes. You need a little differentiation.

  • B

And i was hoping for different interior like in S class coupe, leather dashboard and decoration trim above, next to dual screen and no that scratchy black plastic panel.

Unless the front grille proportions and size compliment the headlights (which I can’t tell until they reveal it), it’s not going to have a nice front end from what I can see.

  • Erzhik

Why does it have the current touchpad design? The refreshed C-class already has a new pad installed.

  • Maher

People crying over Mercedes using the best interior design in business on all their cars, yet Volvo, BMW, Audi, Porsche, heck even Bentley and every carmaker uses the same interior design on all of their models.
Same goes to the exterior, people find a problem when Mercedes does it, but not so much when everyone else does it, and they have been doing that years before Mercedes. At least Mercedes bring a brand new design language to their cars every 7 years, inside and outside.

It’s a European thing for making all their models look similar. Why should it need a different interior anyway, when it is already so perfect. The exterior styling, frameless doors and a 4 seating arrangement are the relevant differences that the CLS needs to have over the E class. It should be called the CLE though.

  • U8INIT

Alright now Benz…don’t show us the same interior no mo nah…

  • Robert

Wow, Mercedes is really committed to building garish shiny (Las Vegas casino) interior design aren’t they?

  • Yardie

So the CLS will be a E-Coupe with 4 door’s….woooooow. Did I mention already, that the current style of Benz Coupe’s and Stations is fugly like hell? Specially the tail light’s, and the interior of the Coupe’s.

  • ErnieB

    Copy and paste design..

  • Marwan Abdul Hak

BAD!!!!!…the CLS interior had always have a classic touch with plenty of wood….
