This 707HP Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Convertible Will Cost You $90k

Remember last year’s Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat that had its roof hacked off? Well, now you can buy your very own example.

Finished in a Plum Crazy Pearlcoat, which is Drop Top Customs’ (the company that built it) way of saying purple, it comes with a price tag of $89,999, from VeroBeachChrysler in Florida.

This doesn’t make it a bargain, but it undercuts the previous model by almost $50k.

Its 6.2-liter supercharged V8 lump remains unaffected, meaning that it’s still good for 707 horses and 650 pound-feet (881 Nm) of torque, which normally push the coupe from rest to 62 mph (100 km/h) in the low 4sec, and allow it to cover the 1/4 mile in less than 11 seconds.

Leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, keyless entry, navigation system, and 8.4-inch infotainment system should interest a potential buyer. However, if making noise is the only thing you’re into, then learn that decibels come not just from the engine, but also from a premium Harman Kardon sound system, with 18 speakers.

    I think the muscled shapes of the Challenger suit a convertible model perfectly. I definitely wouldn’t pay $90k for this car though.

    Plum Crazy is a Chrysler hue, first introduced back in 1970, among other “high impact” colors. It, along with some of the other brightly-colored shades, were revived in the mid to late 2000’s.

    Notice how they don’t show any picture of the car with the top up or the top unfolding. To me, I get the impression that this convertible is manually actuated…..something that $90K shouldn’t allow. From that, I don’t think Drop Top Customs had the mechanical and electrical engineering skills to make it happen, but they did have a sawzall and some bondo.

    There must be an awful lots of tent poles under that canvas. Some assembly required.

      I see your concern really, but cant judge what I cant see.

        It was an impression that I got from the images. I don’t have any evidence that the top isn’t just a canvas pull-over draped over a folding roll bar. Perhaps it has fully functional convertible top, but even then, photo proof of it would be better than none.

        Also, I have never seen an aftermarket convertible look as good as a factory build convertible. They always look terrible. Even without the top up, this still looks terrible.

    FCA lost ton of money not offering Challenger convertible.

    Wheels = hideous

    I want to camp out at the dealership so if and when someone buys this, I can point and laugh at them.

    I would never drive a 700hp convertible. That’s a death trap.
