Lynk & Co 03 Sedan Shows Its Skin Before Shanghai Debut

Barely a week after Lynk & Co’s futuristic 02 emerged online, the first images of the company’s latest creation, the 03, have hit the web and while it’s being dubbed a ‘design prototype’, it looks ready for the road.

Unlike the 02 which has bold butterfly front and rear doors and exterior design elements reminiscent of a spaceship, the 03 is much tamer and altogether just looks like a re-proportioned 01 SUV that now takes the form of a sedan.

Limited details about the Lynk & Co 03 have been announced but it is expected to be underpinned by the same Volvo Compact Modular Architecture as the 01. The front of the 03 sits high, just like the 01, and includes a set of small headlights incorporated into the front wheel arches and makes use of a split grille design. The example pictured also rides on a set of five-spoke wheels, has a black roof, dual tailpipes and LED taillights.

The cabin of the 03 is just as eye-catching as the exterior. It includes a center console and touchscreen display angled towards the driver, a fully-digital gauge cluster, bright green stitching and accents as well as black leather throughout.

It isn’t yet known what will power the 03 sedan but it should receive the same powertrains as the 01. That means a 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder joined by an electric motor will initially be offered, followed by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder and down the road, both pure electric and plug-in hybrid models.

The Lynk & Co 03 will debut at the Shanghai Auto Show.

the exterior screams “tacky chinese design” and the interior reminds me of a C4 Cactus with those air vents exhausts mixed with a new gen Prius

    • Bo Hanan

      I see a toaster oven with wheel/tires.

    • Marty

Yes, the interior is a letdown. Like an old Subaru or something.

I think the exterior has potential. It’s a bit too busy, but if they just removed some of the gimmicks it would probably look really nice.

  • Six_Tymes

its got a lot of audi influence on the outside. especially the rear 3qtr view. i like the rear lights. i think the front will grow on me too.

  • Kash

I’m really liking this company, but mostly because their designs are fairly fresh and don’t really look like anything else on the road, and especially don’t look like a Volvo based model.

I do get a bit of Kia Optima from the C-pillar and some Audi from the trunk buy only in profile.

    • pcurve

Yes I really like this design. Quirky yet executed well. Definitely aping Optima, but things I like the best are the wheels and tail lights, which are pretty original .

      • Kash

I wouldn’t call the light’s shape original but the internal design is very unique. from the side the shape gives me Audi, but in pic 14 i get a mild Lincoln Conti vibe from the lights, but somewhat better looking.

        • Lynk&Co is pronounced “Lincoln Co”……

  • ediotsavant

Looks great. It seems they raised the car by a few inches to give it that cuv view from the driver’s seat.

  • Dennis Scipio

it’s looks okay, but will have to get used to.

  • MarketAndChurch

The front end is the perfect blend of German and French design, almost a mix of VW, with Citroen or Peugeot influences. this is what I wished Citroen would give us with its DS brand instead of sharp-and-curvy-yet-generic front end that DS’s currently have.

The rest of the car is obviously restricted by platform and budget constraints, but like Kia or Volvo, if given the chance, this is a company that will definitely punch well above their weight.

  • EM1

I like the design and find this company distinctive but wish it was a 200 C replacement

  • Caddilac Wong

    Very Citroen looking

  • Bash

Maybe its just me, but I see little bit Italian here, I like it.

  • alexxx

    I am very very impressed…

  • Zandit75

Front grille reminds me a lot of the earlier VW Sirocco, and those high mounted headlights look to be sourced from Kia.
Side profile looks squashed, like it’s been pressed together from either end.
I can’t tell if this is trying to be a CUV or a standard Sedan.

  • Akira

The front reminds me of a very fat Ferrari 458.

  • Infinite1

Front end looks like the car should be a hatch and the rear side profile reminds me of a car in Grand Theft Auto 3.

  • Tumbi Mtika

    It’s pretty good actually.

  • Evan McMaster

Its trying to be a Porsche, Ferrari, and Alfa at the same time, except it is cheap Chinese AIDS. And that B9 A4 rear end though.
