Watch Out Escalade: Lincoln Teases All-New 2018 Navigator Ahead Of NY Show

Lincoln just dropped a shady image of what looks like the successor of the Navigator full-size luxury SUV.

The new Navigator will draw inspiration from the impressive gullwinged concept shown last year but don’t expect to see its huge gullwing doors reaching the production line.

It doesn’t matter though as the new big Lincoln is rumored to be a drastic departure from the current model, featuring an all-aluminum body to help it shed some of its colossal weight along with a tasty luxurious environment on the inside.

Powertrains will definitely include Ford’s 3.5-litre EcoBoost V6 and the 10-speed automatic transmission as well. There’s very little information about what else to expect from the new Navigator.

Rumors suggest that Lincoln wants to directly rival models like the Cadillac Escalade with the new Navigator, which means that an increase in its price tag is also imminent.

Lincoln will reveal the all-new Navigator at the New York Auto Show, so be patient and stay tuned.

lincoln, if its not an exact replica of the concept, im suing

    • Benjamin B.

Will probably look similar expect with normal doors.
Or, alternatively, Lincoln could follow Tesla and go weird.

    • Adi

Just look at the 2018 Ford Expedition. It will look exactly like that just different front and rear plus it will have a black C-pillar.

      • Danny Blaney

it will likely have all custom sheetmetal. Not just the front and rear. The current platform mates at lincoln don’t share any sheetmetal with the ford sibling. The last 4-5 lincoln concepts have been almost identical appearance wise to their concept as well. Just look at the mkc and escape or the mkx and edge. If not one told you they were related you would never know. They look nothing like each other.

        • Adi

If you look at 2018 Expedition it basically has the same side profile as Navigator concept. Of course Ford and Lincoln cars have different designs but these full size SUVs always had the same side profile just diffrent front and rear (previous generations of Expedition and Navigator + Escalade, Tahoe, Yukon) and I bet you it will remain like this even with this generation of Navigator.

          • Bash

            I see your logic here.

    • Carmaker1

Not gonna happen. The hard points will be the same, considering that the U554 design was frozen well over 2 years ago and much of the design process was wrapping up in the second half of 2014 for both U553 Expedition and U554. The concept’s doors and steps were never in the cards and a number of other details.

Same story with the Continental, which was already a done deal as early as 2013, only making it more attractive for 2015 NYIAS.

  • TrevP

    Nice!

  • Dennis Scipio

This looks Very Bold and Attractive.

  • Ilbirs

The light signature looks great. By now we can compare this to the front clip of the 2018 Expedition to have some idea of how it’d look like:

If we put some light on this teaser, the Navigator’s front clip shows even more its differences from the Expedition’s one:

Looks very promising indeed. Can’t wait for the official reveal…

  • Tumbi Mtika

Let’s see how Lincoln will disappoint us this time…

    • john1168

      LOL… Right? 🙂

    • Cobrajet

      No V8.

  • Kash

It’s just gonna be the new Expedition with lincoln badges and full length taillights. We are talking about Ford’s Lincoln afterall.

  • fabri99

Lincoln hasn’t been worth the wait since like 1974.

  • john1168

Hey Lincoln! You guys have to get this right this time! The last Navigator was the JOKE of the auto industry! Seriously, you guys can’t screw this up. The thing is everyone is expecting you to screw this up but you can’t. You have to impress the poop out of us with this!

  • J Hod

competing in who’s the worst in its class?!

  • Christian Strnad

Do anyone of you own a current gen navigator? It is awsome, heavy stylish and can fit anything you throw in. I feel like a king in my Gator L

  • Astonman

What I liked about the Lincoln concept was the sloping roofline into the tail – similar to the Range Rover. I know the Expedition and Navigator share hard points so I was disappointed when I saw the side view of the new Expedition. Hope I’m wrong.

    • donald seymour

Great observation. I hope that you are wrong too.

  • BlackPegasus

    LOL ?

    • donald seymour

I think that this is the most harsh comment I read.

  • Craig
  • Bash

I have a feeling that Escalade shouldn’t worry about this.
