Finally, the new Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 meets the Ford Shelby Mustang GT350R in order to see which one is the most exciting muscle/sports car.
Only problem is that the ZL1 offers a lot more power than the GT350R, thanks to its supercharged LT4 V8 that pumps out 650hp and 650lb-ft of torque, which is 124hp and 181lb-ft more than what the Mustang puts on the table.
This sort of difference in power puts the whole comparison at risk of being deemed worthless but the fact that the ZL1 is basically a bit cheaper to buy than the GT350R sort of speaks for itself.
On the other hand, the Shelby Mustang GT350R is powered by one of the most sonorous naturally aspirated flat-plane V8s in existence, with its 5.2-litre V8 making 526hp and 429lb-ft of torque higher in the rev band while producing a song that could wake the dead.
Straight-line performance aside, both of these cars offer world-beating handling both on track and on the road, which is light years away from the “one-trick pony” recipe of their predecessors.
