2018 Audi A8 Takes Spiderman To ‘Homecoming’ Premiere [w/Videos]

Audi have kept their promise and offered the biggest piece of the new A8 puzzle yet, during the latest Marvel blockbuster, ‘Spider-man: Homecoming’.

And they did so by bringing the new generation of their flagship sedan at the movie’s premiere in Los Angeles. The car was used to chauffeur ‘Peter Parker’, played by Tom Holland.

Spidey climbed onto the car’s hood, and leaned on its windshield to take a few selfies with the large crowd that gathered at the event, as part of the itinerary, while ‘Tony Stark’ (Robert Downey Jr.) and ‘Happy Hogan’ (Jon Favreau) arrived together in a black R8 Spyder.

As far as the 2018 Audi A8 goes, the prototype was wrapped in vinyl with a special spider web pattern, so enthusiasts that wanted to catch a glimpse of its new design had to put their imagination to work.

The German car marque is less than two weeks away from pulling the veil off their new product, as it’s scheduled to have its official presentation on July 11 in Barcelona, Spain, and once it does, it will put some pressure on the BMW 7-Series and Mercedes-Benz S-Class.

I’m dissapointed in the exterior. BUT hey it’s Audi what should I expect?

    • WG

I agree with you. The side view is especially boring to look at.

    • Vassilis

Just understand their design language and it’ll be easier to appreciate it. Without having seen the rear, I think this looks good.

  • jdkjdkw

after seeing the new LS in person, i highly doubt this will compete in terms of looks and interior. Will wait and see it in person, sometimes these cars look boring in pictures but in real life they actually look decent.

  • OdysseyTag

So far, so good. Now if they would reveal it already, that’d be nice.

  • Bash

    Nothing dramatic here… meh

  • enthusia

it’s… well… how should i put this? it’s certainly a car. it has 4 wheels and 4 doors.
    and thats about it.

  • BGM

Product placements have ruined more than a few movies for me, including the association of Acura with Marvel. That’s why I no longer pay to watch Marvel movies at the theater. This one will be no different. Enough was enough a long time ago.

  • nellydesign

Yup, it’s an Audi. Nothing really new going on here. That being said, the proportions are fantastic. Old A8 had a dowdiness to its stance that seems to have been fixed here.

I still think the new A5 is the worst Audi in years. Used to be their best looking model but the new sloped front end looks terrible.

  • Kash

    pic 9 isn’t a picture that should’ve been approved. It doesn’t look quite… appropriate.

  • Auf Wiedersehen

Downey Jr is starting to believe he’s Stark..

  • An Existing Person

I quite like it so far. It’s by no means a revolutionary design in the segment, but at least it doesn’t appear to be overstyled, which is in most cases worse than a slightly dull design. Hopefully the interior looks the part.

  • TheBelltower

It’s as if Audi is only updating their cars to add new lighting and electronic gimmickry, and maybe to conform to safety regulations. But they are completely copying existing designs. And now they are partnering with the Spiderman movie? That’s fine for Chevy, but not exactly a good move for a luxury brand. Audi’s heydays seem to now be behind them.

    • nastinupe

Kind of funny that you would mention this as Audi has been in Marvel movies for over 10 years now. Either you’ve been living under a rock or you’ve been living under a rock.

      • TheBelltower

Or I don’t bother with Marvel movies. However long Audi has been doing it, doesn’t make it any less cheesy.

        • nastinupe

Audi started doing this back in 2007, which was basically the beginning of their “heyday”, which is my point.

Take a look at this sales chart. Audi’s sales were 80,372 in 2000 and 80,113 in 2006, meaning that they were stagnant, however, in 2007, the first year that Audi introduced a car in a Marvel movie, the sales jumped 13,000 to 93,506. Since that time, Audi sales have more than doubled and in 2016 they sold 210,213 vehicles, which is a record year in the history of the company. So we are witnessing Audi’s heyday and you are living under a rock my friend.

  • Carenthusiast

I was really expecting something dramatic with the headlights coz that’s where Audi’s really stand out but those 3 stripes remind me of Mustang’s headlights! Interior especially infotainment screen & controls will be very different to current A8 though.

  • Tumbi Mtika

The Toyota Yaris’ slogan works perfectly for this.

  • getoffme

The LS grille alone puts the new A8 design to shame.

  • nastinupe

Why does the nose of the new A8 look like a mustang?

    • exeptor

      Thanks for this one!

not even ONE rear shot. nice car journalism
