2018 Audi A8 Teaser Shows Us How It Parks All By Itself

Audi has released a new teaser video for the 2018 Audi A8.

The company didn’t have much to say about the clip but the video gives us our first look at the car’s interior as well as its autonomous parking system which can be activated by the key fob.

Starting in the cabin, we can see the A8 is equipped with a new steering wheel, a digital instrument cluster, and a distinctive dashboard. The car also has stylish door panels with wood trim, aluminum accents, and chrome handles.

The video only shows a few glimpses of the exterior but it’s clear the sedan has slender headlights and a wide grille that draws inspiration from the Prologue concept. Out back, there’s an integrated rear spoiler and unique taillights that are connected by a small strip that runs the entire width of the car.

The 2018 Audi A8 will be unveiled on July 11th at a special event in Barcelona and the video suggests the car will also have a cameo in Spider-Man: Homecoming which hits U.S. theaters on July 7th.

Audi has been tight-lipped about the model but the automaker has already confirmed all versions of the car will come equipped with a 48-volt mild hybrid system which will reduce fuel consumption by up to 0.7 L/100km (0.2 mpg US).

So it can go forward, turn around and back up. That is more advanced than anything else.

At least it backs into a parking space.

Is there a “DB” button on the key fob that parks a car in the middle of a space large enough for two vehicles? Guess wifey is parking in the driveway when she gets home.

    • Tinky-Winky

Or maybe he’s a single father and his wife is dead.

      • TheBelltower

LOL. Guess the car has a “Dead Wife” setting for parking.

        Maybe she rides a hog.

I notice that there is no screen sitting on the dash like that on the Q7 and other new Audis, which is nice. The steering wheel design is also unique and imo better looking than the one in the S-class. The only new and noticeable exterior features would just be an updated hexagonal grille and of course, looking at Audi’s history of new vehicle releases, new headlights and taillights.

    • Carenthusiast

Yes, you are right. It will have dual screens which are touch sensitive. Not sure if they will retain MMI

    • Erzhik

Chances are it’s retractable like other A8s.

This car seems so bla to me. I don’t know, I’m not expecting much from Audi this time around. I think that they are stuck design wise. They are going to have to pull a Lexus to get out of their rut.

0:04 – the shape of the center console looks like it will have maybe touch sensitive screen buttons in the center…? maybe something like panamera.
    i dont like it…

The teaser video is so fitting because the passenger got bored to sleep with the design already.

Anything in the segment looks dull after the Lexus came out.

  • Six Thousand Times

What, that guy can’t enter his house through the garage? Nice taillights on the A8, though.

  • ck

Love the new steering wheel design. Best one I have seen in years.

  • LexusGXman

It looks exactly like the last one. And it can self park. Wow.

  • Enter Ranting

I mean, can you imagine if he had to take his kid out of the car INSIDE the carport? Like a caveman?
