This shocking footage hails from the Russian city of Perm where this blue BMW M5 is suddenly engulfed in flames while it was idling at a light.
The car seemingly catches fire for no apparent reason, causing the driver to panic and speed off before finally pulling over and exiting the vehicle unscathed.
According to the Daily Mail, four firefighters rushed to the scene to help, though the footage shows the driver and another man taking matters into their own hands and putting out the flames before help arrived.
“We were sitting with my friend on a terrace on Lenina street, when the object passed by,” stated a female witness. “I had the noise in my head for another 10 minutes after. The child from a table nearby started crying.”
We can only imagine how terrifying this incident must have looked from behind the wheel of that M5. The driver is certainly lucky not to have been injured.
As for his decision to take off upon noticing the flames, it does look like panic (his reaction was borderline instantaneous). What he probably should have done was to pull over, or better yet, exit the vehicle immediately and attempt to put the fire out right there and then.
