DS, the premium brand of PSA, revealed the first details of the plug-in hybrid E-tense version of its upcoming DS7 Crossback along with more info on its future electrification strategy.

Set to arrive in spring 2019, the DS7 Crossback E-tense will offer an all-electric range of 37 miles (60km) without compromising the vehicle’s dynamic capabilities.

The PHEV powertrain will combine a turbocharged 1.6-litre petrol THP with 200hp and two 107hp electric motors mounted on each axle and a 13kWh battery pack through an eight-speed automatic gearbox located transversely between the petrol engine and the front electric motor.

Together with the plug-in hybrid DS7 Crossback’s details, the French company repeated that a new DS model will be launched each year, only now it says that all of them will be available with an electrified version in their respective ranges.

DS expects that its future hybrid or all-electric models will represent more than a third of its total sales by 2025.

“DS is entering the electrified vehicles scene. By 2025, more than a third of DS vehicles sold will be hybrid or all-electric,” said Eric Apode, DS Product and Development director. “The performance models will be provided by the hybrid versions and the first in the series is DS 7 CROSSBACK E-Tense – the DS vision of hybrid power with 300hp and a 60km electric range”.
