What If Maserati Decided To Build A Shooting Brake?

Despite entering the SUV market with the Levante last year, there are still plenty of other body styles that have yet to wear a Maserati badge.

One such style that’s gained popularity lately is the so-called Shooting Brake, which can be both practical, aggressive and luxurious, traits appreciated by customers in the executive segment.

As for this design, it was conjured up by Seung Hyeok Choi, who found inspiration in what he calls “drastic curves”, like those you might see in a wave just as it’s about to break. It looks like a very spacious luxury car, able to sit either four or five people, depending on the configuration. It also seems to have gull-wing doors, but its most distinctive part is the rear with that rather unique hatch.

The front end is very “shark-like” and it actually reminds us of the Alfieri concept. The front fenders are a bit more flared on this concept than on the Alfieri though, with smaller headlights and a more pronounced spoiler.

Unique and very sharp. Nice design work

    • Bo Hanan

Maserati would sell more if it looked like this.

      • Benjamin B.

They’d sell more if they did not take from FCA parts bin.

        • Lancia Fan

Like every car company in the would. There are Passat parts in bentleys lol

        • europeon

So that’s the reason that stopped you from buying a Maserati?

  • I’mCallingYouOut

    Totally into it, kudos!

  • xDRAN0x

The luxury car world would now have an unreliable shooting brake

  • Six Thousand Times

Well, that’s a five-door so not, classically, a Shooting Brake. I’m not saying it isn’t compelling, however.

    • benT

      it’s not compelling

    • Zandit75

      There is precedent.

      • Six Thousand Times

There are also plenty of four-door “coupes.”

    • MarketAndChurch

The sketching-quality is compelling, even if the side-profile could be refined a bit more because it looks confused trying to be many things(coupe, shooting-brake, sedan). But find the right balance between the three(or eliminate one of them to just focus on two) would go a long way.

      • Six Thousand Times

        I concur.

  • benT

hopefully they will not decide to build

  • sidewaysspin

Shooting brakes don’t have five doors they have three.

  • john1168

I think it would be a great idea! It would liven up the brand for sure and give more offerings.

  • Smith

What if Maserati decided to build beautiful classic sports cars instead. This is ugly, disgusting and an insult to the eyes. Really!

  • Big Black Duck

looks pretty good…not a fan of the rear end tho

  • Benjamin B.

Too bad it has a Chrysler UConnect infotainment system.

    • europeon

Which is one of best infotainment systems out there, intuitive and very easy to use.

    • gary4205

      So does Ferrari.

  • Tumbi Mtika

It wouldn’t have a stupid vent on its side.

  • eye.surgeon

I understand that every concept car features ridiculously impractical wheels and tires but this takes it to the next level. What are those, 5 mm sidewalls?

  • gary4205

Ferrari has been pushing it’s 2 door 4 seat station wagon thingy pretty hard in the enthusiast rags lately. So….

This Maserati lacks the trademark grille. Other that, and the overwrought “scoop” on the door, not bad.

  • alecs

Maserati did with the, previous generation Q-porte, a unique shooting brake particulary beauty, why not,Maserati…

  • Bash

    They should!!
