2020 Ford Bronco May Get 325 HP V6

New information about the 2020 Ford Bronco has surfaced online after an anonymous Ford engineer spoke to Gear Patrol.

For starters, the engineer claims that the American automaker will probably equip the new-age Bronco with the same basic 325 hp, 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 as the Ford Fusion Sport but that internal discussion are being held about also offering a hybrid version.

Beyond its engine, it is reported that Ford recently commissioned its third design study for the Bronco because it isn’t yet happy as to how the vehicle looks, suggesting it looks too much like the Jeep Wrangler.

According to the engineer, “If you’re familiar with the [Ford] Troller, out of Brazil, that’s the basic concept, but it’ll look like a four-door version of that.” As for a potential two-door version, there’s simply “no market for it,” says the engineer.

The reason why the new Bronco apparently looks so similar to the Wrangler is that it is being benchmarked directly against the capable off-roader. In fact, the engineer says Ford wants it to be comparable to the Wrangler Unlimited in every way, “except rock crawling.”

As the veracity of the alleged engineer’s statements cannot be verified, we still remain hopeful that Ford will pen a unique design for the new Bronco and make it capable enough to easily out-perform rivals.

      Seriously Bobby….books not selling huh?

And all of this time, I thought it would be based on the Ranger. I’m not sure if the Troller is the right fit for a Bronco revival either, but in Ford’s current stable of vehicles, what is? The Troller might be a really tough off-roader, but I have never driven one, and just looking at the pictures, it’s got that flimsy developing-market vibe of a Fiat Strada. I certainly hope I’m wrong about that.

It is based on Ranger and is being developed by Ford Aus who develop Ranger

These renderings are from a fan right? Not official? I highly doubt they go the enthusiast route.

He didn’t say it was based on the Troller platform. He said that was the “basic concept”. That can mean a lot of things. However it was Ford VP Joe Hinrichs that actually said the 2020 Bronco will be based on the 2019 Ranger frame. Also

Also, the veracity of this report should be taken with a grain of salt.

    > If you’re familiar with the [Ford] Troller, out of Brazil, that’s the basic concept, but it’ll look like a four-door version of that.

No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No!

    > As for a potential two-door version, there’s simply “no market for it”

NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO!

  • Auf Wiedersehen

I love the looks, like a large mid-late 80’s Bronco II brought up to the 2000’s and pumped with steroids but, one thing is likely, it will lose most of it’s coolness mojo in production guise.

” As for a potential two-door version, there’s simply “no market for it,”

Then it’s NOT a Bronco, but and updated Explorer and Bronco only in name. Revive a name for marketing seems to be the way things work in these companies…

Is a four door Jeep Wrangler not a Jeep Wrangler?

      • Auf Wiedersehen

Of course….but the Wrangler continuously evolved to where it is. If they tried to call it a CJ5, I would say the same thing. It’s like calling the Dodge Charger, a Charger. It’s nothing like the Charger….it died and was revived as a sedan so it’s only marketing a name. Sometimes it works, Challenger, Camaro, and sometimes it doesn’t. To me!

  • Auf Wiedersehen

“In fact, the engineer says Ford wants it to be comparable to the Wrangler Unlimited in every way, “except rock crawling.”

So, a mediocre to drive gas hog with a clumsy interior…. Just what we need…

  • SgtBeavis

It’s really too bad it won’t look like the BroncoG6 rendering above. That is just damn gorgeous.

  • Harry_Wild

That would be great to get a V6 instead of the turbos 4 cylinders engines. V8 would be ideal of course, but Ford does not get it!

  • Blade t

Wow, I hope it doesn’t look like a wrangler ….

  • Six Thousand Times

…and we already know it won’t look anything like that.

  • Benjamin B.

Makes sense. A mild 48 volt hybrid system would allow many accessories to be powered like Ford plans to do on the F150 and probably Ranger.

  • Belthronding Tinuviel

    that looks promisingly cool.
