All-New Audi A8 Teaser Surfaces, Reveals Profile And Some Light Graphics

With the Audi Summit less than a week away in sunny Barcelona, the German automaker has decided to shine more light on its upcoming A8 flagship.

Unlike with most luxury cars in this segment, Audi haven’t exactly done a great job at keeping the A8 away from the spotlight. Naturally, it’s all by design since the car is already on its way to becoming a movie star.

In case you haven’t heard already, the all-new Audi A8 is featured in Marvel’s latest blockbuster movie, Spider-Man: Homecoming, and has already been teased heavily in multiple official videos.

But what does this image tell us? Aside from offering a better look at the car, it’s nothing we haven’t already seen or deducted. The two Prologue-esque profile lines are quite visible though, whereas the LED’s out front look pretty sharp.

That being said, let’s round up what we know so far about Ingolstadt’s new Mercedes-Benz S-Class and BMW 7-Series rival. One of the first things they confirmed, officially, was that the A8 will come with 48-volt mild hybrid powertrains as standard across its range, which ultimately reduces the car’s fuel consumption by up to 0.7l/100km (0.2 mpg US).

They followed that up by showing us just how easily the car can park itself with the help of the Audi AI Remote Parking Pilot. In the video, which you can watch here, the driver exists the car and the A8 does a 180 and reverses itself into the garage.

Then came all the Spider-Man stuff with Tom Holland and comedian J.B. Smoove enjoying some of the car’s active safety tech during a driving test, followed by the web slinger going to his own movie premiere on the hood of the 2018 Audi A8.

Last but now least, yesterday’s sneak preview ad revealed that you can get the A8 with a relaxation rear seat with foot massage, which sounds absolutely delightful.

The Audi Summit takes place in Barcelona on July 11th, starting at 9:30 AM local time (CEST).

        I would love a Model S over the Lexus and Merc, but lets ne honest, Tesla has neglected the luxury side of its brand. The interiors aren’t exactly what I’d define as luxurious. Not a fair nor equal equivalent to the S-class or Lexus LS.

    I simply think the Audi is for people who like luxury without the flash in opulence of it. It’s cerainly not an ugly car… I’m sure it’ll have presence when it’s on the road.. but it’s just now jaw dropping. IMO, the S-class is one of the best looking cars on the road.

      IMO it#s a major issue, that all VAG designs now look more or less the same. The same basic design language, just grilles and sometimes slightly different lights (with Seat/Skoda, not even differences in details). Even cars that don’t share platform manage to look incredibly similar. Using details like door handles, mirrors, and whole interiors across the range and across brands helps little either.

      They need a lot more differentiation, I mean if FCA can pull a Jeep Renegade and Fiat500X of the same platform, build in the same factory yet look and feel so different (or compare the heavily related Opel Crossland X and Citroen C3 Cross), why can’t the much less cash strapped VAG?

    There’s a complete failure of imagination in Audi’s design department. It seems all they’re capable of doing is recycling the same styling cues over and over again, with an occasional tweak here, or a new element there.

    Same boring generic shape. New not impressive LED lights and thats it. I remember when I use to love Audi. Not anymore. Innovation is not apart of the company name.

    I would rank it as tied with the 7-series, or maybe slightly behind the 7-series, but just slightly. But both are still behind the S-class. The Passat-Jetta influences are not doing it any favors.

    Too much teasers killed the teasing. Now with all the details that we’ve saw they can fully reveal it !
    Now about the transmission all models are gonna have an 8 speed Tiptronic gearbox with the Quattro.
    And then about the engines we can expect :
    – A8 3.0 TFSI quattro : Petrol V6 3.0 330 PS (standard Porsche Panamera)
    – A8 4.0 TFSI quattro : Petrol V8 4.0 476 PS (a downgraded version of the Panamera Turbo’s V8)
    – S8 : Petrol V8 4.0 +600 PS (directly shared with the future RS6 and RS7)
    – A8 L W12 quattro : Petrol W12 6.0 608 PS (Bentley Bentayga’s W12)
    – A8 3.0 TDI quattro : Diesel V6 3.0 286 PS (released on the new Q5, replacing the former 272 PS engine)
    – A8 4.0 TDI quattro : Diesel V8 4.0 435 PS (borrowed from the SQ7)
    And of course some plug-in hybrid models e-tron but we can’t predict if the petrol engine would be a 4 cylinder, V6 or V8.
