Rather than highlighting the sleek design of the 2018 Sonata or its host of new technologies, Hyundai has decided to promote the new sedan in a slightly more unique way.

In the new ad spot set to air nationally across the United States, the South Korean automaker says the Sonata is the perfect companion on those tedious daily commutes that create millions of aggravated drivers every day.

Just switch on the Sonata’s radio, belt out some Neil Diamond and all will be good in the world, Hyundai says. If only life was so simple…

Whatever you think of the commercial, it is hard to argue that the Sonata has come a long way in recent years and, in 2018 spec, is a very tempting proposition for those in the market for a five-door sedan. The car isn’t just affordable, starting at $22,050, but it is also available in a number of guises and includes advanced technologies such as Blind Spot Detection, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Lane Departure Warning and a seven-inch infotainment system supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
