Jaguar XJR575 Debuts On Video Doing 300 Km/h While Hosting An Interview

There’s a new Jaguar XJR in town and it packs 567hp (575 PS), which is enough to propel it to very high speeds indeed. Jaguar’s new flagship requires just 4.2 seconds for the 0-60mph procedure (0-100km/h in 4.4) and will continue accelerating up until it hits 186mph (300km/h), which by the way requires just 44 seconds of wide-open throttle from a standstill.

In order to demonstrate just how easy and comfortable the new XJR575 remains under full acceleration, the company organized an interview with Wayne Burgess, Jaguar Design’s Studio Director in the car’s back seat while doing a top speed run.

The fastest member of the new 2018 XJ family features a slightly more aggressive exterior, courtesy of the different front bumper, twin bonnet louvers, front air intakes, fatter side sills, a retractable rear spoiler and a set of 20-inch gloss black alloys among others.

The interior is dressed in diamond-quilter leather and features the obligatory 575 badges in all the right places. There is also a new infotainment system that features a 10-inch touchscreen display with 4G-WiFi capability and a wide range of driver assistance systems as well.

Looks quite nice and the power numbers mean it will probably be the fastest large lux sedan in its class (based on previous tests).
But the body is starting to age. The next XJ needs to be a looker that is NOT polarizing like this one. And with the looks of the new A8 and current BMW 7, it should be fairly easy.

Looking for comparo betwen this, the B7, M760, S63/65, S8+ and maybe Panamera?

Jaguar also needs to use better materials. It wasn’t good even against the competition when it was newly launched. The interior and exterior plastics are very low rent. The chrome is clearly not real. Sit in a 7 series or examine the exterior, and it feels like money well spent.

What? This will be the slowest car in class, easily. The new S63, M760Li, and S8 will smoke this thing. It isn’t even close.

      • Andrewthecarguy

        S8 Plus.
And you are right, I forgot about those. I have not accepted the M760Li yet. I have seen one in person and it is stunning. But it was also $177k. Probably will sit for months.

I still love this design. Like what they did to the headlights. The rectangular shape goes well with the grill.
