Mazda Does A “Real People, Not Actors” Spot Pinning 6 Against Mercedes And Audi

If premium vehicle owners can’t tell the difference between a Mazda and something like an Audi A4 or a Mercedes-Benz C-Class, questions need to be raised.

For starters, has the Japanese automaker caught up to the German giants when it comes to building premium automobile interiors? Short answer would be no, although Mazda has made great strides in terms of cabin quality in recent years.

So flipping that around and asking yourself if anyone could realistically believe that the Mazda6, Mercedes C-Class and Audi A4 are comparable, we’d have to say yes, especially if those people aren’t car enthusiasts.

There’s another option to consider, of course. Let’s say those “real people” are actually actors. It would explain why they would say they prefer the Mazda6 to the other cars – which apparently they couldn’t recognize since Mazda went and covered up the Mercedes and Audi badges.

As to what those people thought of the Mazda6, one of them says it felt intuitive to drive and that its exterior design was to his liking, whereas both enjoyed the quality of the interior.

Still, the part where they pull the stickers from the Mercedes and Audi’s front grille remains a little suspect.

    To be honest, this is actually worse than Chevy’s version. They’re literally comparing a Mazda 6 to 2 luxury sedans.
    That’s like comparing 2 apples to a grape.

      Seriously though. I think Mazda makes great cars but they shouldn’t force their brand image to premium territory. They should rather let it happen over a few more years.

      It’s always wrong for mainstream brands to try to pitch against premium models. It never works. Although to be honest, that Audi A4 isn’t really a premium car anymore, Audi is a sub-premium brand these days.

      It would be smarter for Mazda to make a really compelling offer against other mainstream brands in some important features. To show relevance by being class leader in something of interest to consumers.

    What mazda need to do first is to stop mass producing a faulty 2.2 diesel engine and own up to its problems (diesel injectors ) faulty worldwide and they put it down to owners not checking there oil after every 600 mile and changeing it every 1400 miles and yes I have a 2013 mazda 6 love it but never would I buy a mazda again .

      Did you know that Mazda fixed the problem a long time ago? I think you’re going on old news. Besides I won’t believe anyone who claims that they’ve owned something and supposedly loves it but won’t buy it again. It’s so contradictory.

    Who wants to drive cars with less than 200 horses? Society’s “winners?” Image is its biggest problem. And I do not see it changing anytime soon.

    But the question is… WHAT exactly makes a car ‘competitive’? Some people think price. But that reminds me of that old joke. How do you know what wine is the better wine? Answer. PRICE! But is that true? Or have we all just been played for fools? I bet most people – probably even most of us – have never been within 10′ of a Mazda6 – and YET are quite willing to declare as if fact that IT is not as good as a Mercedes or Audi anything.

    I believe that this comparison would work if Mazda used the super duper base versions of the Mercedes C Class and Audi A4 and used the premium version of the Mazda 6. We all know how basic the Germans can get when it comes to their options and interior.

    Remember when Mazda actually made big premium sedans like the 929 and the Millenia? As I see it, Mazda doesn’t have luxury division so why not position some of its models upmarket? Give buyers a stylish package with options premium brands can’t match for the price. Hyundai/Kia got the message years ago as evidenced by the Equus and the K900.

    Mazda has improved a lot. Not really nearly comparable to German and Swedish premium cars though! But i am a car enthusiast so clearly see cars differently from these, and Chevys, “real people”
