New BMW Z4 Spotted With Lighter Front Fascia Camouflage

This latest batch of 2018 BMW Z4 spy images shows a slightly more exposed front end, allowing for a better look at the headlights as well as the front bumper design.

Unfortunately, it’s still not enough for us to truly picture what the car looks like underneath all those mind-warping patches of camouflage, although the bumper does sort of resemble the one used in this rendering back in May.

Other than that, we know to expect the usual BMW “roadster” styling cues, such as the long bonnet, short rear overhang, large kidney grille and so on.

Not too long ago, we also got a decent look inside one of these Z4 prototypes, which featured the touch-sensitive iDrive controller, a 6-speed manual transmission, a sporty three-spoke steering wheel and a driver-oriented sat-nav display.

Available engines will include turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder and 3.0-liter six-cylinder units, with the entry-level Z4 s20i model possibly rated at 145 kW (197 PS) and 320 Nm (236 lb-ft) of torque.

BMW’s new Porsche 718, Audi TT and Mercedes SLC rival is expected to go on sale towards the end of next year, with a concept version possibly coming to Pebble Beach next month.

    Overall car profile looks rather bland, front overhang a bit too large for the cars small proportions, which never looks good. Either way, Im excited for this and the upcoming Supra.

    Interesting experiment. Seems like economy of scale has caught-on HARD with the auto industry that it cannot be hidden anymore….Mercedes with Nissan on their new pick-up and BMW with this Toyota.

    I am really hoping it is more re-badged BMW = Toyota rather than the other way around.

    If this turns out to be one of the most reliable BMWs ever then we know a Eurasian high level alliance is coming.

    As consumers, should we care? A great car is a great car, period dot, right? For me brand cache and pedigree are important parts of why I drop the kind of coin I do on a vehicle.
