Recently, the three-rotor Mazda RX-7 of Rob Dahm set a new rotary half-mile record. Unfortunately, the heavily-modified sports car was crashed just a matter of hours later.
As described by Dahm himself in the video below, he was driving home in the RX-7 with the ultra-sticky drag radial tires still fitted when the heavens unexpectedly opened.
The moment was captured on the dash cam of Dahm’s support car immediately behind and shows the RX-7 losing traction at the flick of a switch, darting it into the adjacent lane before spinning almost a full 720-degrees around and bouncing off the highway guardrail.
Luckily, the contact was only minor and the car escaped the ordeal with nothing more than a scratched and dented front bumper.
