Sport Auto Sets 7:13.9 Nurburgring Run With Corvette Z06

Despite the C7 Corvette Z06 being the most track-focused road car to ever wear the famed badge, Chevrolet has never released an official Nurburgring lap time for the car.

Fortunately, German magazine Sport Auto brought out the new Z06 to the circuit and set a seriously impressive 7:13.9 lap.

For the run, the publication used a Z06 equipped with the optional Z07 aerodynamics package paired with the available manual transmission. The blistering lap time means that it is the fastest manual car ever taken around Green Hell by Sport Auto, a remarkable achievement for a car that was launched over two years ago.

Making the lap even more impressive is that unlike car manufacturers which lap the track dozens, if not hundreds of times to set the best possible lap, Sport Auto only completes a single flying lap. Under the same conditions, it hustled the Porsche 918 Spyder around the circuit in 7:13.

The 918 didn’t exactly lap the same circuit, since they repaved some parts the laptimes dropped big times. This isn’t quite as fast as a 918, come on…

    • John Smith

Weak excuse, it’s the same damn layout. Stop whining.

  • pcurve

ooh automatic revmatch is works so well… (I think it’s cheating a bit, but obviously not as much as dual clutch cars with two pedals)

  • SteersUright

Not surprised, and happy to finally see a lap time for the Z06 and that it finally didn’t overheat when pressed on a track. Seriously impressive number, but don’t kid yourself, this car is very very fast, but not porsche 918 fast.

    • Ishliss

Its also not 918 expensive either.

Awesome run! I didn’t realize they only do one lap. If the had GM’s hot shoe from their engineering dept driving the 8 speed auto, rumor has it the lap time would have been at least 5 seconds faster.

    damn thats fast.
