2018 Lexus LX 570 Superior Leaked Ahead Of Russia, Middle East Debut

Lexus is getting ready to introduce a new 2018 version of the LX 570 in Russia and the Middle East called ‘Superior’ and the first grainy pics of it somehow found their way online ahead of its reveal.

The new Superior version –to be called the LX 570S in the Middle East– will be part of a subtle MY2018 update to the big Lexus truck, which remains one of the last body-on-frame luxury off-roaders available in the market.

There isn’t much information about it but the new version wants to offer a sportier vibe, courtesy of the new body kit that includes new front and rear bumpers, deeper side sills, bigger wheels and a new, black version of the predator grille which also appears to have gained a different mesh design.

The cabin is expected to follow the sportier intentions of the exterior, featuring aluminum pedals and a new red interior with black accents.

On the engine front, we don’t expect to see any changes: Lexus offers the LX 570 with a 5.7-liter V8 that makes 372hp and 394lb-ft of torque. Russian customers also get the option of a diesel LX 450d, powered by a 4.5-liter V8 with 272hp and 479lb-ft of torque, which isn’t expected to be offered with the new Superior trim.

There’s only so much additional ‘design’ the basic Land Cruiser body can take. I think it has reached breaking point.

    • europeon

Despite that, it’s a really desirable car in Russia and Middle East. I’m confused AF.

      • los

Whats confusing? The 200 series is very reliable, solid off road with no rattles, comfortable off road and on road, can be driven hard, parts widely available, lots of mods, you name it. Owners aren’t afraid to use this Lexus the same way they use a basic land cruiser. Regardless if you like or hate the looks, when its 50 c and you are in the desert this is one of the best and most comfortable vehicles to be in ( well maybe the version without the kit )

        • europeon

I know it’s reliable, that’s not the point. The design confuses me.

          • Los

It is the point. You implied that it confuses you how this thing is desirable in the markets you named. Nothing confusing about. If you see first hand how how these vehicles are used in those areas you will realise they don’t buy it only for looks and even then many people in those regions like the looks.

          • europeon

            Yes it is.
People who care about how things look stay away from this overly designed monstrosity, and people that need a rugged, comfortable, no-nonsense car, don’t care about design or anything like that. So this leaves the question why is this car how it is and who is it aiming at.

          • los

Why is this car how it is?
LX is the best selling vehicle in its segment and the best selling luxury vehicle in the Middle East. ( So believe it or not some people do like like how it looks…)

Lexus releases a special version of the LX in select markets around the World ( mainly the GCC and Russia ) every couple of years or so and they end up selling tons of them. and a large number of those people who buy them in the GCC do take them off road.

For some people this is the perfect car.

      • Auf Wiedersehen

Don’t be confused…they just have no taste.

ok, the design is a little bit better than the Fiat Multipla.

      ok, NO its Not

  • This car is just getting more vulgar, from a practical premium utility vehicle.

The sad part is I still love it, Infiniti needs to put the Monograph concept into production already.

  • Auf Wiedersehen

This is the definition of over the top design and design language that doesn’t translate to all models. Whoever at Lexus thinks this is a good thing and green lighted it, needs to have their head examined.

This falls into the category of “what the hell are you thinking?” and what happens when your head of design and the guy who approved it for production are clueless. The idea that elements from every car have to fit on every car is just stupid and frankly just plain lazy designing.

I saw this on a Lexus commercial the other day, and just literally laughed out loud. I had to rewind and laugh some more.

This car does not lend itself well to body kits.

    • SteersUright

This car is nothing more than a rolling body kit.

  • DMJ

Nobody wiil be surprised if this is the last body on frame SUV from Lexus.

    Words fail me….

    • Bo Hanan

      My words exactly.

      • Knotmyrealname

        Couldn’t have put it better….

  • An Existing Person

This thing is so gaudy, but I still love it somehow.

  • Og

Love it or hate it. This thing sells very well in the Middle East and Russia. I think it’s the best selling luxury vehicle in the Middle East.

    Hideous, no news here.

  • exeptor

Lexus has a very good cars (quality, technology, reliability, etc.). Why they fuck them up with such a design?!? I’m not saying that this is the worst, but for sure not something that makes the car desired. Very strange.

  • MarketAndChurch

I really love the Lexus LX we currently have here in the US, I think it looks better than the QX80, Escalade, and even maybe the new Navi. But that front air dam / splitter-thingy is just nasty.

There’s a way to make an ugly vehicle that endears itself to a devoted following.(G-Wagen)
The memo has’nt yet reached the Lexus design studio.

Toyota/Lexus just made it to the top ugliest cars ever.
