2019 Suzuki Jimny Leaks Looking Oh-So Familiar

Not long after our spies snapped the 2019 Suzuki Jimny in the midst of testing, images of the redesigned SUV have emerged following a company presentation detailing its product roadmap.

As we long suspected (and hoped for), the new Jimny hasn’t totally sacrificed its iconic design and still remains identifiable. What that means is that the SUV maintains its small proportions and its front end continues to be dominated by a slim, horizontal grille and a set of simple headlights, now round rather than the square shape of the original.

The interior of the new Jimny also has a very boxy design reminiscent of the old car but there are some changes, most notably a large touchscreen infotainment screen and a redesigned steering wheel.

Our sources suggest that the 2019 Jimny will use a ladder frame and the firm’s AllGrip Pro all-wheel drive system. Engines remain unknown at this stage but the 110 hp, 1.0-liter engine of the Baleno is expected.

Expect to see the 2019 Suzuki Jimny premiere at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show.

I would love to buy one of these.

    • JimmyK

      Me too.

  • Jesse A. C. Majors

  • Six Thousand Times

Glad they’re still making them. I want mine with white wheels and a bunch of lurid stripes.

  • Marty

Nice to see that they are moving back in a more functionalistic direction instead of throwing the car into crossoverland like so many other brands do.

    • Matt

You mean like how Suzuki did with the Vitara?

      • Marty

(So it’s not only “other brands”.)

  • apamau

Me too, love to have one, but hope to have more power, use a lot on climbing hill in plantation

  • Christian

I know they gonna give it a 1-liter Turbo… But mann, a 1,4 Turbo 150 Bhp would make it a fun car!

  • Christian
  • Gullet

Love it! It truly is a mini geländewagen.

  • While the current model looks more modern, it’s nice to see the upcoming Jimny as a reborn Samurai.

    • ZafMio

Exactly what I was thinking of, too!!

  • stelvio

Looks like the gelandewagen and the lada niva had a lovechild

  • Dariush

    YESS!!! Finally a true Samurai!

  • Carguy

Fucking thieves, what about paying for those pictures instead of stealing them from another site???
When your Carspy is not able to deliver them, then you can’t get them. That’s life!

    • Jay

If they’re posted online they can always be ‘stolen’. I remember there were sites that didn’t allow you to click save as but nothing stops a printscreen/screenshot.

    • Marty

Because that other site has the copyright? I think you have misunderstood the meaning of the word ”carspy” in this context.

      • Carguy

The other site has paid money to be able to show the pictures to the audience. This is how it works. You pay money, you´re getting things for it. If every site is just stealing, it will be the end of the carspy business.
Cause then no one can affort the rising prizes for fuel and travel costs… is it that what you want? Then go ahead and wait for the answer of our lawyer!

        • Marty

The copyright of those pics most probably belongs to Suzuki Motor Corporation. Nobody else is allowed to make money from them without a permission.

So: are those other sites paying Suzuki Motor Corporation – or somebody with a permit from Suzuki Motor Corporation – to publish them?

          Do you understand my question?

          • Carguy

I won´t tell you about thinks that are not your business. Automedia has the Copyright and that´s all you need to know.

  • jfalckt

Oh wow! Now I have found my new secret crush of a car, irrationally want one.

  • Carguy

Ah, the thieves deleted my comment.
Pay for the pictures instead of stealing them!!! Otherwise I’ll post it again and again that you’ve stolen the pics from another Site!!!

    • Marty

And were did that other site get them?

      • Carguy

Look around, they are everywhere. But those sites did pay for it. Carscoops don´t!

  • I’m sorry but this looks worse than the current car.

Current car is practical and looks the part but with soft edges.

  • Bash

    looks nice actually.

  • Harry_Wild

Extremely sharp looking subcompact SUV! I buy it immediately if it were available in the U.S. marketplace!

  • Dennis Scipio

I wish Suzuki wold sell cars United States again, so we can have vehicles like the Swift, Vitara, S-Cross, Ignis, and maybe the Jimny.

  • Carguy

Ah, the thieves deleted my comment.
Pay for the pictures instead of stealing them!!! Otherwise I’ll post it again and again that you’ve stolen the pics from another Site!!!

    • Marty

I think you have got the wrong idea about who the owner of those pictures is.

      • Carguy

The owner of the pictures is AUTOMEDIA. And you should know about that matter of fact.

        • Marty

Most probably the owner is Suzuki.

          • Carguy

Wrong, because they did not take the picture.

          • Tinky-Winky

The owner of the original pictures is Suzuki and if you take a low quality photo or manipulate them in any other way and publish or try to make money out of them without the permission of the original’s author, you’re violating the copyright law.

  • kiwiME

How can it possibly have AllGrip without going to FWD? The vehicle in the photos appears to have the same suspension and solid rear axles as the current model as RWD/4WD.

  • sidewaysspin

It does look like a mini G-Wagon.
