Cadillac Super Cruise To Be Standard On CT6 Platinum

Cadillac has confirmed that its upcoming Super Cruise semi-autonomous driving system will come standard on the range-topping 2018 CT6.

Upon announcing the Super Cruise system in April, the automaker said it would only be available as an optional extra for the most premium of CT6 variants. However, speaking with Automotive News, Cadillac confirmed those plans had been changed.

Rather than being solely an option, Super Cruise will launch as standard on the 2018 CT6 Platinum and be available as a $2,500 option on the CT6 Premium Luxury trim.

Updated pricing for the revised 2018 CT6 models have yet to be announced but currently, the Platinum starts at $85,290. A small price hike is to be expected with Super Cruise becoming standard equipment.

Cadillac has marketed Super Cruise as the industry’s first hands-free driving technology. It incorporates a driver attention function which uses a small camera on top of the steering column to monitor the driver and their head position while Super Cruise is activated. If the system determines that the driver has turned away for too long, visual, tactile and audible alerts will play until the driver takes control of the car.

This is so incredibly dangerous. It’s basically like watching someone else drive. Someone with a learner’s licence. In fact – it’s worse than that. Does that sound relaxing to you?

These abominations are going to be nothing more than a “wefare” program for trial attorneys.

You can bet it will bankrupt car companies.

You have no proof and you’re relying on alarmist tactics with no evidence. I doubt even you could drive better than an autonomous car.

        Fuck off.

You first, after all, you’re the one not putting up any evidence about how an autonomous car is worse than a 16 year old with a learners permit.

We’re seeing improvements in autonomous driving technology everyday, while you and every other person behind the wheel has less grey-matter than when they woke up that morning. Machines are our superiors, and manual driving is at an end.

I don’t give a flying fuck what you think.

Neither does the rest of the world care about your ‘personal and emotional’ attachment to the car. That’s why you’re going to be left behind when it comes to the future of the automobile.

You’re only human, and that’s the problem. You can’t beat the hardware, and you can’t act as fast or as accurately as a computer.

It’s your game to lose son.

            Fuck off.

Your inaction and poor response to the rise of the autonomous car is what will kill your ‘hobby’ and car culture. Telling me to fuck off will not change a thing. Unless you can make manual driving appealing to the masses again, or you get into a position of political power in Ottawa, you are powerless.

We need a constitutional ban on “self driving” cars.

If you don’t like driving, call a cab or take the bus.
