Couple In Range Rover Sport Escape Carjacking In South Africa

This incident took place in the Gauteng province of South Africa, between Johannesburg and Pretoria, where a married couple managed to evade a group of carjackers.

A couple of months back, we saw a very similar incident, where the driver of a Porsche 911 barely got away before armed carjackers got the chance to force him out of his car at gunpoint.

Unfortunately, these types of crimes keep happening and people who own expensive cars and live in certain parts of the world should be increasingly careful about their surroundings before they enter or exit their vehicles.

Bottom line, we’re glad to see that the driver of this white Range Rover Sport noticed the robbers pulling up behind his SUV and reacted quickly. Also, here’s how it all went down in the words of the female passenger:

“We arrived home and as our gate opened, our small dogs ran out towards our car. We had to stop so that I could pick them up. I managed to pick up one of them into our vehicle but I had to then go beyond the car to fetch the other dog. At this point, I looked to my left and saw a vehicle racing down the road towards us.”

“The vehicle suddenly stopped and that’s when the attacker jumped out of his car with a gun. I immediately jumped back into our vehicle and as I closed the door my husband was already prepared in reverse and simply put his foot flat down on the accelerator.”

so effed up, on SO MANY LEVELS

  • Bo Hanan

She’s a badass. She backed that Rover straight back at least a 1/4 mile.

    • badcyclist

      She wasn’t driving….

      • ChrisInIL

She’s badass for telling her husband, from the passenger seat, how to get away? 🙂

One more reason to get an actual attack dog, if you live in a place where you might get carjacked every single day. German shepherd, rottweiler, pitbull, etc.

    • Bob

Guard dogs mean nothing here. They get poisoned for housebreakings for example. They’d have simply shot the dog. I love my country but the crime here is intense.

    • DMJ

Have you ever read news about carjackings in South Africa or Brazil? Sometimes they just kill you before asking for your car, and you are here talking about dogs??

    • Six_Tymes

good idea, but a shame we have to resort to that level.

  • Hmmm…car jackers are driving a Benz…

    • ChrisInIL

      Correction – stolen Benz.

    • on other recent robbery in a filling station, they were driving a GLC!!

  • kachuks

That guy can drive the hell out of that Rover in reverse. Carjacking is so rampant there, he probably thought this out in his head many times.

  • Cameron

Good paying attention girl! But damn why you got so many damn dogs…

  • BlackPegasus

She left the poor doggy behind ?

    • ChrisInIL

Apparently, the little doggy was the alpha of the pack. The other two stayed inside the gate.

Dang…the Dutch immigrants in Africa(calling themselves South Africans) are ruthless thieves. So many of these videos on the web lately.

    • SteersUright

Dutch immigrants are ruthless thieves? What do you mean?

    • LeStori

Or maybe these carjackers were darker skinned invaders from the north who drove out the original inhabitants, the lighter skinned Khoisan.

      • Bob

Or perhaps Africa is actually one large piece of land and that both the darker and lighter-skinned variety were on the continent the whole time before colonialists decided to introduce arbitrary borderlines which they now try to use justify BS such as in your post.

    • thunder bolt

If it wasn’t for the Dutch, then South Africa would still be a jungle, or worst, it would be like Senegal, but thanks to Mandela, it’s going there, and here in the states, thanks to OB, we’re heading that way as well.

      • Ameer Hassan Tajaldeen

what we write represents who we are, and i only had to read the first 2 sentences to know exactly what you are – u know being a racist nowadays is like being gay in the 40s , atleast in europe – u must be a sad lonely little man

        • europeon

          > being a racist nowadays is like being gay in the 40s

          I don’t even…

        • Africans are the most racist people of all. Get your facts straight.

      • Bob

South Africa has never been a jungle. Knysna and some parts north of Durban are forest, the majority of the rest of the country is grassland/savana. The dutch didn’t do much to change the landscape anywhere other than where they settled; non-europeans who were allowed to live near them were only allowed to do so because they offered cheap labour. They were given passports that allowed them entry as if they were foreigners.

Rural areas, where the greater majority of the population still live today, are in a much better state since the ANC took over. I don’t like today’s ANC but I can’t deny they’ve done a lot more to introduce basics such as water and electricity to a greater proportion of the population than the Nats ever did.

Afrikaners (dutch immigrants) are, on average, richer than before Apartheid since Mandela’s government took over. Mandela’s government actually inherited a bankrupt fiscus owing to issues such as sanctions against the Apartheid government. JZ’s reversing some of his predecessor’s gains for everyone except his friends and family though.

Thank Bush for that last part.

      • KidRed

How do you get OB from Donald Trump? There’s no B…oh, did you mean Orange Bitch? That’s Donald! I figured it out…

  • SteersUright

If public policy allows for a small segment of the population in any part of the world to hoard most of that region’s wealth, than don’t be surprised when theft becomes a default vocation. When fair pay and gainful employment is not easily found, people still need to eat and people will always try to find the easiest way to survive. Petty thieves result en-masse after years of grand theft perpetrated by the privileged few. The real victim here, is not the person driving a f…..g Range Rover in South Africa.
I know some of you “privileged” types may not like that others can see through your racket, so bring on the defensive comments.

    • 12333444333

Certainly agree on some of the points made here.

    • Bob

Yes. There is the problem of the enormous wealth gap in South Africa. The post-apartheid government may have managed to grow the average wealth of the population but they haven’t done so in an inclusive manner. Those who were rich simpler became richer while the poorest saw marginal gains in their wealth.

The fact that they’ve managed to allow unions to wage a war for “fair pay” that’s resulted in the destruction of the manufacturing industry (and the related loss of jobs) and are now allowing the same thing with the mining industry doesn’t help.

The reason why so many people in South Africa resort to crime is because that’s often the only viable opportunity for so many people here. There are not close to enough jobs and the general populace isn’t very highly skilled either. There isn’t a strong entrepreneurial culture here either, and you often find that people are coerced to rather follow the less risky corporate route where corporate doesn’t have close to enough capacity for all job seekers..

I’m not very confident that the current government can do anything to fix this; they are out of ideas.

    • MarketAndChurch

Can’t tell if this is bait lol

  • LeStori

gotta love South Africa…. Many years ago a cousin, an ex- commando, was driving a large Merc hire car in South Africa. Two cars stopped across the road in a ‘police style’ ambush. He just drove through the stopped vehicles pushing them aside and continued on his way. When he returned the car it had bullet holes in the rear. The hire company employee just shrugged his shoulders and said it was nothing out of the ordinary.

    • Zed68

What a nice place to live…

  • Just simple vigilence when approaching your gate i suppose, these tsotsi’s will pounce!! ooh how I wish that was a big-ass dog!

  • Shahil Mohanlall

I’m not even joking but this is a normal occurrence in South Africa. You ALWAYS have to be alert when entering your driveway.

  • Christian Wimmer

Thankfully that dog wasn’t run over! *Dog Lover Here*

  • Tumbi Mtika

This is sad. Almost a carbon copy of the Porsche incident.

  • Trackhacker

No lie…why do you white people even live in that country? The crime rates are ridiculously high and so is racism.

  • Merc1

Look at the dogs lol. OMG they just kept coming and then they all stood there like WTF is going on. The bigger dog should have attacked that bastard before he got back in the Mercedes.

  • pureworx

why so many fckin dogs?.. if it wasn’t for the dogs the range rover could have gone in and locked the gate before them would be hijackers arrived. time to get rid of some dogs.

  • SmartAss??‍♂️

Not funny what so ever, but the dog! He was looking at them like you just gonna leave me?

  • InCotexM 3

My blood boils when I see such a thing.

  • sidewaysspin

    This is the US soon.

    • Six_Tymes

probably correct on that, but why?

  • psiqtas

They almost run over the(ir) dog…

  • Nik
