Tesla has made a name for itself for doing things a little differently and that includes adding curious little Easter eggs into its vehicles. Things are no different with the Model 3.

At the launch of the Model 3 just a few days ago in California, one avid Tesla fan discovered that if you press on the ‘About Your Tesla’ section of the infotainment screen and wait a couple of seconds, a second menu will pop up.

As you drag your finger across the menu, brightly colored sparkles float around the screen. You can then press on a small picture of Mars and instantly, the navigation system takes you to Earth’s planetary neighbor and turns the small Model 3 on the screen into the Mars Curiosity rover.

As you’d expect, there’s no traffic on Mars but the rover does move around on the map as you drive.

Another Easter egg found on the Model 3 was first introduced a few months ago on the Model S and Model X and opens up a large sketch pad, allowing owners to let their creative juices flow – hopefully not while they are actually driving.
