BMW’s Shark-Nosed Z4 Roadster Concept: Beauty Or A Beast?

Uncovered at Pebble Beach almost a month ago, the new BMW Concept Z4 has crossed the Atlantic to be present at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show.

It sports a very appealing design, with a short bonnet that ends with a shark-nose, compact rear, and two seats in the middle. Beneath its sexy sheet panels, it shares its underpinnings with yet another anticipated sports car – the new Toyota Supra.

Its cockpit is driver-oriented, and to highlight it, BMW has separated the driver’s zone from the passenger one by applying two different shades of leather, one on each side, an interesting touch that most likely won’t be carried over to the production model.

Speaking of which, the German automaker is expected to pull the cover off its body sometime next year, with the first examples arriving at dealers before the end of 2018, and it should be interesting to find out how many elements from the study will be carried over.

Toyota will follow a similar route with the new Supra, which is believed to mark its first appearance not long after the Z4 debuts.

Tell us what you think about the new Z4 concept in the comments below.

    A beauty, looks more like a Z8 than a Z4.

  • TB

Well we already know the nose will be more like the new 8 design as that will probably be the front end going forward for this generation of BMW’s…and I’m good with that…it’s a good looking front end.

  • Kannag Don Amenra

    A beautiful beast 🙂

  • A Different Color, Please

I like it, just not in this color.

  • TheBelltower

This car is sexy. The color really sets it off.

  • Dustin

The shark nose grille is a nice homage to the 507.

  • Nordschleife

Beauty in my book. I haven’t loved a Z car so much since the Z8

  • GTVR6_99

I’m not in love with the stacked headlights. They seem like they belong on the Jaguar F-Type more than here. My thoughts.

  • supermanuel

Apart from the front lamps looking like they’re a bit too far apart, that is one good looking sports car.

  • Kash

Gonna be beast for me, the overbite grille on BMW concepts lately just isn’t doing it for me.

  • SgtBeavis

    I’d pimp it.

  • Aquaflex

It’s on my list along with the new Supra! I might rock the new z4 since it’s a roadster but if the Supra wows me I will rock it! If only Honda can come up with a S2000 replacement I would rock that and the new Supra.

  • Auf Wiedersehen

Prerequisites: High water skinny jeans and a man-bun.

And if the production car has half that much body work, angles and slices, it will be a pain in the ASS to clean.

  • SteersUright

All of the production mules look nothing like this concept/design-exercise. So what the use of commenting on this? To me, the true moment of judgement will come when Carscoops throws some undisguised pics of the next Z4.

I wanna see the next BMW 3 series with this style! Badass!!
