New Audi A8 Looks Even Better In Person

After its big premiere in Barcelona this summer, the new generation Audi A8 has been taken to the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show for the world to see.

It offers something extra over its rivals, the BMW 7-Series and Mercedes-Benz S-Class – a Level 3 autonomous driving system, the first one of its kind on the market.

The high-tech feature comes to aid drivers, who will be able to focus on other activities under heavy traffic, as well as on highways, and takes care of the acceleration, steering, and braking, while being able to handle some tough situations, such as another vehicle cutting in front.

However, don’t expect to take a nap behind the wheel, because if the AI Traffic Jam Pilot detects that the driver’s eyes remain closed for a long period of time, it will alert them to resume driving, and if ignored, then the saloon will come to a complete stop in its lane.

Those visiting the brand’s stand in Frankfurt won’t get to experience the autonomous driving, but they will see its evolutionary styling better, which was inspired by the 2014 Prologue Concept.

Pricing for the 2018 Audi A8 starts at €90,600 ($108,336) in Germany, while its longer sibling, which adds the ‘L’ suffix, can be had from €94,100 ($112,521).

It’s a shame cars need to have headlights. Otherwise Audi could have made a real big grille that covered the whole front end.

      lol these comments are hilarious.

      Don’t give them any ideas…

  • S3XY

    Long, bland and generic.

  • Benjamin Daniel Benedict

    Pass !

  • LJ

The “autonomous” feature sounds really sketchy to me.

  • Karl

Audi completely missed the mark with this new model! The C pillar is not doing this design any justice.. Nice car but very bland and forgettable.. What happened Audi?

    • pcurve

Other than couple of flukes here and there, Audi has always been designing mind numbingly boring 4 door sedans for past 40 years.

“New Audi A8 Looks Even Better In Person” Even better than what? Even better than the most anonymous, beige thing ever? Then yes, marginally better.

How to put it, it looks somewhat clinical…

  • no25

I can disagree with the title.

  • Looks Even better… but did it look good?

  • pcurve

A great design for a $60,000 car. Totally inappropriate design for a car costing 60% more.

  • MarketAndChurch

    It’s a very nice limo.

  • Enter Ranting

That’s a big Jetta! With a shiny black plastic dash.

the 2018 lexus ls looks better

    • DM

Agree! The interior is just wow.

  • DM

I fear the new A6 will get the same tail lights. It makes the car look like and old Lincoln. The current A6 is by far my favorite Audi design. Proportions are perfect, the grill is not too big and the rear leds are cool.

  • T2X

lol, Fake Exhaust System, that’s a No Go!

  • Craig

It looks an like oversized 10 year old VW Passat.

  • BlackPegasus

I think a Volvo S90 will have more road presence than this boring slab of metal

  • TheBelltower

I used to be a total Audi fanboy. But the current generation of cars and SUVs have totally missed the mark. Too gimmicky, too much focus on lighting, too many fake vents, and lacking integrity. They really do need to hire new designers.
