BMW’s One-Off M3 30 Years American Edition Celebrates The U.S.

Prior to the SEMA Show getting underway in Las Vegas, Nevada, BMW has lifted the veil on the 2018 M3 30 Years American Edition, a one-off designed to celebrate the M3’s ongoing 30th anniversary in the United States.

Designed by BMW Group Designworks and built through BMW Individual, the one-off will be available for sale at the conclusion of the show. Thanks to a host of bespoke touches and custom parts, it is unlike any other M3.

The M3 30 Years American Edition started out life as an M3 Competition Package but has now been painted in Frozen Red II Metallic. Complementing the paint are one-off M Performance Golden alloy wheels, red, white and blue accents, and a carbon fiber reinforced plastic roof.

There are a host of other parts that make the car stand out. Chief among these are adjustable M Performance Sports suspension, a carbon fiber rear wing, and a lightweight M Performance exhaust system with titanium silencers. The interior hasn’t been left untouched either.

Inside, BMW Individual has bathed the various surfaces in red, white and blue Merino leather. Additionally, the one-off has special 30th Anniversary graphics on the headrest, decorative trim and rear sun-shade. There’s also Alcantara and carbon fiber accents throughout, complemented by an M Performance shift knob and contrast stitching.

Like a regular M3 Competition Package, the car is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine with 444 hp and yes, it does have a 6-speed manual transmission.

So, I take it when the M3 CS comes out US customers are going to get shafted again. Am I right?

  • Kash

Okay seriously, when did BMW hire JDM Ricers to head their designs? Becuase this M3 reminds me of a ’98 Civic with that wing and gold rims.

    • TheHake

That wing and gold rims are bad, but that interior is HORRIBLE.

      • Kash

It’s just all bad, and together it’s even worse.

        • TheHake

lol. It’s so bad it’s bad.

  • kachuks

I can’t believe there wasn’t a better way to combine red, white and blue into the interior.

How many Evel Knievel race suits were sacrificed to upholster that interior?

  • SteersUright

Was this designed by my neighbor’s 16yr old kid with the dropped 2004 Eclipse on “rims”?

  • Mill0048

Honda’s tri-color scheme on their CBR1000RR SP comes to mind: red, white, blue and light gold wheels.

    The interior…

    Just awful.

  • fabri99

Germans’ lack of taste at its finest.

  • Honda NSX-R

I don’t think you guys seem to like it, but my ricer self fucking loves it.
