If you’re looking for an alternative to the Toyota Prius that’s also very fuel-efficient and practical, look no further than the Hyundai Ioniq.
Tested here by Kelley Blue Book’s Zach Vlasuk in Hybrid form, the Ioniq seems to do everything right, from comfort to on-board tech, fuel economy and even driving dynamics, although you’ll probably never drive this thing like you would a sports car.
According to Vlasuk, the Ioniq Hybrid can seat five adults comfortably, has a well-designed interior and plenty of luggage space – not to mention a wide boot opening.
Where the car really impresses though is on the road, thanks to its surprisingly punchy hybrid power unit and six-speed dual-clutch gearbox. So while it’s no Lotus in the handling department, the straight line experience is more than just decent.
One of the few negatives mentioned in this review was how bouncy the ride was over rough surfaces, although some buyers might be tempted to ignore something like that as long as the car excels in every other department.
In the end, the Ioniq Hybrid clearly has a few features that still escape the Toyota Prius, and that’s definitely something to brag about.
