Mazda Vision Coupe Concept Is One Sexy Looking Sports Sedan

Mazda teased a sporty new concept for the Tokyo Motor Show and the company wasn’t kidding as here are the first pictures of the Vision Coupe Concept that come to us from Wheelsage.

Set to debut alongside the Kai concept, the Vision Coupe is a stylish four-door model which has an aggressive front fascia and a massive grille.

There’s no word on what resides under the long sloping hood but it could be something pretty powerful as the wheels appear to cover a high-performance Brembo braking system. Of course, you probably didn’t need to look at the brakes to notice as the car also boasts a four-tailpipe sports exhaust system.

Other styling details include a panoramic glass roof, hidden door handles, and tastefully restrained metallic accents.

The upscale styling continues in the cabin as drivers will find themselves surrounded by premium leather upholstery and elegant wood trim. Elsewhere, there’s a stylish steering wheel and an infotainment system which appears to span nearly three quarters of the dashboard.

Details are expected to be announced shortly but the company has previously said the concept will help to “define the next generation of Mazda design.”

Thanks to Niko!

If this and the Kai represent the next generation of Mazda car design, they’re seriously at the top of today’s automotive styling game.

As truly gorgeous, inside and out, as the Kai is, this ‘Vision Concept’ is easily one of the single most stunningly beautiful four-doors ever conceived… by any manufacturer, at any price – Build It Now!

      Simply Brilliant… Go Mazda!

ha ha ha, yup!! Perfect meme for this stunner.

  • Jp

Sexy indeed! Is it a stick shift that I see? On a concept car? In 2017? Thanks, Mazda, you made my day!

    • ToniCipriani ✓pǝᴉɟᴉɹǝʌ

No it isn’t. Look closely at the pedals. Brake is very wide and there is no clutch.

      • Jp

You’re right! Hopefully Mazda will keep the manual shifter a little while longer. Cheers!

  • Antonio

    OMG OMG OMG!!!!
I’ll sell my 4GC and buy this sexy piece of art!!!!!!

    • ToniCipriani ✓pǝᴉɟᴉɹǝʌ

But being Mazda this is more than likely FWD…

  • I am seriously digging the clean, almost minimalist interior design language shared by this sexy sedan and the sporty Kai concept.

  • Leconte Dave

    Mazda6 Coupe?

  • Zandit75

Be right back, I just made a mess…….

  • Mr. Crankypants

A nice showcase for styling cues but not much you see is practical for production…no front bumper, low roofline, exaggerated flank countours etc. You’ll see those tail lamps on the next 6 maybe but most everything else is a designers wet dream.

    • Nordschleife

i actually don’t like the taillights. I know they are trying to become more mainstream but i think they should just make the next Mazda 6 and four door coupe.

      • Mark S

I like them, Shades of Ferrari here where the 5-door has Alfa Romeo cues, but better done then on them.

    • 360_AD

You know it’s a concept car right? Duh.

  • Dennis Scipio

I see no revolution in design but definitely evolution.

    AUDI A7 ugly ugly,
    Mazda Beautiful saloon sport sedan.

    • Mynameis Taylor

the A7 isn’t ugly. But this definitely a handsome design

  • Mynameis Taylor

It’s definitely premium looking. But it it seems clear that government limitations in the auto industry must make it very hard for designers to spread their wings. While this certainly is a sophisticated, handsome and sleek design, it looks like every other European-ish concept.

    • renesis 16x

Which government limitations? Care to elaborate?

  • Mark S

Wow! Mazda just keeps getting better! Lets hope a lot of these details make it on to the next 6. This also comes across as RWD, but I doubt that is in the plan. Throw in the CX9’s turbo and this would be a game changer for Mazda, A Real 4-Door sports car. The Accord/Camry alienative route is too boring for Mazda, carve a niche instead.

    • Bugatti Andrea Ettore

future top-line Mazda 9 RWD oh Mazda 6 Cupe 4-doors RWD?

Can this be the new Mazda 6?

    • Mynameis Taylor

doesn’t it. It looks like it could be a LAGONDA

  • javier

yes it looks good but until mazda actually makes a fast car that can handle i’m not impressed, they haven’t made one in a long time and the miata doesn’t count

  • Mitsubishi Xpander

It does have a very flowing design.

  • Nihar

    Mazda 9 maybe?

  • Six Thousand Times

Just pure pretty. Mazda is keeping styling alive.

  • Karl

Mazda is on a design tear! Lexus can only dream of timeless designs as these… Zoom,Zoom indeed!

  • klowik

It looks great but I don’t think we will ever see any of the traits in the real production..every time, the final production car is a disappointment and doesn’t even look close to their concept..

    • Zandit75

The production cars may be a disappointment compared to the concept, but at least it’s not Subaru level disappointment!

      • Carmaker1

Subaru only does that, because they make a concept car after the production car is finished, look entirely different than what it really is.

Mazda isn’t guilty of that. Most of their concepts are required to have significant similarity to the production model waiting to be released.

This concept is a very special one as it’s one of those rare ones that will be developed into a production car later on. The Kai Concept is nothing more than a slightly veiled version of the next Mazda 3, based on the lesser production design itself.

  • renesis 16x

    Jaw-droppingly awesome!!!

  • Dariush

    *_* wow…

  • Bonni Gari Leksmana

    All hail the 6…

  • Bash

Just make it EXACTLY like that.. its beautiful, and i would just buy it for sure.

  • Erick Sn

I believe this will be the next Mazda6 design language and they will step up one level for luxury sport saloon compare to the competitors. Perhaps, the closest rivals will be Nissan Maxima and Kia Stinger. Honda accord has followed the sleek four door coupe design language, but New Mazda6 will be much better in term of design, build quality, and features. Mazda is always one step ahead among the Japanese competitors

  • SteersUright

A proper rear-drive sedan with these looks could cement Mazda’s entry into the luxury sport sedan market. This concept looks as good or better as anything to come out of Aston Martin, Porsche, MB, BMW, Audi, etc.

  • Сафиуллина-Мохамед Рамазанов

So will this be the next generation Mazda 6?

  • Since we are talking about the future: Mazda, fuck you in advance for not putting this into production. 🙂

    Absolutely awesome.

  • fabri99

All car designs should be this clean and linear.

  • Tumbi Mtika

    Millenia, anyone?

If this is the new Atenza, I’ll cream myself.

    • Carmaker1

I think it is. Mazda will reportedly once again update the current model in early 2018, while a RWD successor finishes up development for release in 2020. What bothers me is that once again like Amati and Ford-Lincoln a quite a century ago, Mazda has a powerful connection to an industry giant that might put stops to that for competitive reasons (Toyota-Lexus).

I am worried that Toyota might be trying to create a monopoly and is trying to get closer to smaller Japanese Automotive firms (Subaru/Mazda) to stop them in their tracks and reduce competition in the premium segment.

Akio Toyoda and Japan’s Prime Minister Abe are unusally too close.

      • Mark S

Mazda is partnering with Toyota for electric car development.

      • Tumbi Mtika

We can’t have that. Mazda is currently flying the flag for the Rising Sun, in terms of design.

  • disqus_83g6mJmr6l

    sublime!(it’s little sister too)

  • Subi-Rubicon1

OH DAMN!!! This is absolutely gorgeous!!! MAZDA, please build, I want it!!!

Excellent. Again great job of hood and grille integration. No conspicuous hood cut lines.
