2018 Nissan Terra Looks Like A Worthy Successor To The Xterra

We first got a glimpse at the Nissan Terra last month and now we’re a better look at the model thanks to several new imagines that were reportedly taken in China.

Essentially a passenger-friendly version of the NP300 Navara, the Terra is a stylish and rugged body-on-frame SUV that features a prominent V-Motion grille. We can also see angular headlights, bulging fender flares, and plenty of chrome trim.

Moving further back, the Terra features curvaceous bodywork and a distinctive greenhouse with a small kick up on the rear doors. The rear of the model is pretty plain as there’s a large tailgate with chrome trim and wraparound taillights.

Little is known about the model but Autocentre says the SUV will be offered with a 2.5-liter petrol engine which produces 184 hp (137 kW). In other countries, the Terra is expected to be equipped with a 2.3-liter dCi turbodiesel engine that has outputs of 158 hp (118 kW) and 187 hp (140 kW).

The Terra is expected to be unveiled at the 2018 Beijing Motor Show and it will be launched in China. The model will likely be offered in additional markets but there’s no word on specifics.

Fingers crossed it will not be a CVT!

    • RDS Alphard

since it’s based on Navara, I expect 6-speed manual transmission & 7-speed automatic transmission

      • TrevP

So for america, since we don’t believe in Manual transmissions, should I expect a 7-auto? lol

        • Six Thousand Times

You should not expect it at all. Americans are pretty happy with their Rogues and Pathfinders. There aren’t enough people looking for the advantages/willing to put up with the disadvantages of a rough terrain specialist.

          • RDS Alphard

It’s funny how G-Wagon was kept alive due to American, although that said American bought G-Wagon for its’ brand & size instead of its’ capability…

          • Six Thousand Times

            Exactly. Nobody drives his G-Wagen off-road. It’s a pose-mobile.

        • RDS Alphard

Funny you say that, American is the only country where you can still get manual transmission for mid-size Japanese sedan (even though they only available in base spec)…

The last one was Xterra, this is Terra, so next ones ‘ll be Erra, Rra, Ra and finally A? And then what?

    • Belthronding Tinuviel

then all new Nissan Nothing will be revealed in 2036.

      • Maximilian Norlande Rabbitt

I laughed harder than I should have at this

    • TheHake

I think you might be jumping the gun…

  • YUDHA BAGASKARA

this is the new Mercedes-Benz GLE

    • Honda NSX-R

      LOL

  • no25

No, not an Xterra successor, IMO. Looks too “luxurious” and not enough rugged/off-roader like to be an Xterra. I do think it looks pretty good, though.

    • Enoch Gabriel Gonzales

But it rides on a body-on-frame chassis used for NP300 navara and has a high ground clearance, which makes it a worthy off-roader

  • chippers

    I like it.

  • Enoch Gabriel Gonzales

This will be a successor to the Terrano, and the true successor of the pathfinder

    • TheHake

      Exactly!

  • Mark S

Butch it up some and bring it made in Tennessee.

    • Six Thousand Times

What, with a bunch of black plastic wheelarches and other bits?

      • Mark S

Why not Plastic is a good material for around the edges.

    • Tumbi Mtika

      Must be nice.

  • Soo.. this is the next Pathfinder, not so sure i like it!

  • SteersUright

Wow that ugly. What are they teaching at design schools these days??

    • Belthronding Tinuviel

      Probably not this one..

  • Tumbi Mtika

    Called it.

    The entire time.

  • Maximilian Norlande Rabbitt

Ok but, why does the back look like a Subaru?

New buyer: “Hey Mom, look at my new car!” But, since she sees it from the back: “Oh, a Subaru.” And now you may have wasted a little money lol

  • WTF

it looks more like a proper replacement for the Pathfinder, instead of the van looking thing itbecame
