Honda Teams Up With Billion-Dollar Chinese Startup SenseTime

Honda has announced a partnership with SenseTime, a Chinese startup valued at over $1 billion with expertise in artificial intelligence.

According to Tech Crunch, SenseTime is a leader in object recognition technology and will combine its AI and deep learning skills with Honda’s AI and autonomous technologies to ensure self-driving cars operate safely in urban areas.

Alongside the duo’s work on autonomous vehicles, the partnership will expand joint activities in robotics.

SenseTime secured $410 million in investments from a series B funding round earlier this year, reportedly the largest private financing round ever closed by an AI startup. Additionally, it is thought that the technology company will secure a $227 million investment from Alibaba before the end of the year.

Have we given up on the search for REAL intelligence?! lol

how about a nice comfortable bed in these car, with no glass. Whether driving to work or from work, I would love to just sleep.

  • Carmelo Van Cabboi

I see the dash board and I wanna cry! Goodbye style, good bye feelings… everything will be flat and with no taste.

    • salamOOn

it is simple and flat, but i think this is also pretty stylish one…..and i dont like “huge screen no buttons interiors”.

      • Finkployd

Not 100% sure about the screen on the door though 🤔

  • Marty

These flat tv interiors will grow as old as a Subaru XT in just a few years. The problem is that we will not see them in just one or two quirky models from quirky brands, but all over.
(I don’t think we will get rid of all touch screens, but they will be much better integrated in the design.)

Uggghhh, every time I see this car it angers me. Somehow they have sold this ‘3D sketch’ as a production ready car. I can assure you it will look nothing like this. Windows that are bigger than the doors (where do they retract to?), headrests that sit against your shoulders, seatbelts that are at chest height, illegally placed rear view monitors in the doors (head turn angle too great)…. I could go on and on. Don’t get excited. It’s a 3D sketch, that is all.

    • salamOOn

omg…. of course its not a production ready variant…. its just a concept car. very likable though.

      • Knotmyrealname

“A senior executive at the Japanese brand confirmed to Autocar that the car would also make its sales launch in 2019, largely unchanged, given the short gestation period. The car’s wheels will likely be toned down for production, however.”

        • salamOOn

“largely unchanged” is the key. be sure it will have normal seats, lights, instrument cluster and standart rw-mirrors.

          • Knotmyrealname

            I’ll go with ‘largely changed’.

          • salamOOn

            its possible. we will see.
