Honda’s Adorable 3E Robotics Concepts Heading To CES 2018

Honda will reveal its new 3E Robotics concept, a range of experimental robotic technologies displaying the company’s vision for the future of mobility, at the CES 2018.

The range will consist of four different robotic concepts, including an autonomous off-road vehicle with AI, a small-sized electric mobility concept with cargo space, a chair-type concept for use in both indoor and outdoor spaces and a companion robot that can show compassion through facial expressions.

Honda will also have on display their Mobile Power Pack World, which includes a portable, swappable battery pack for electric vehicles, complete with a recharging system that can be used at home, recreation or during a natural disaster.

A battery exchange concept that can store and charge mobile power packs will also be present, as well as the latest partnerships of Silicon Valley-based Honda Innovations with various startups.

Honda will debut its latest robotic and mobility concepts at the CES 2018 on January 8.

    Adorable till they take over…

My wife is working in the field of AI and according to the majority of the major players (on whose work companies like Google, Amazon, etc. base their entire AI business) we are so far away of such scenario that they actually predict that, even if we do not use Asimov laws as a hardcoded limitations in AI code, it might never happen. That’s how unclear to us is the concept of consciousness. I can’t say that militaries do not have some creepy projects under developement, so for sure people will die “by the hand of AI”, but scenarios like the one in Terminator or Matrix are highly unlikely.

Ray Kurtzweil pegs the Singularity at 2045 based on Moore’s law. And that’s just when the first machine is smarter than us. Give them another few years to decide we’re not worth the trouble and then they’ll wipe us out.

      • Auf Wiedersehen

It was kinda tongue and cheek… :p) But to your point, I think machine learning and neural networks are far more dangerous to humans than physical robots taking over.

Good job Honda… Huge respects for those who actually come up with REAL achievement, instead of those who can only blubbering and criticizing but actually never bring anything that remotely as big as their mouths.
