Lamborghini Urus PHEV Could Use Porsche Panamera’s Powertrain

While it’s been reported that the new Lamborghini Urus will eventually be available as a PHEV, which powertrain it might adopt remains unknown.

However, AutoExpress explains that by using the same underpinnings as the Porsche Panamera on the Italian super SUV, it’s likely that the Urus will get the same 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine and electric motor that power the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid.

In the latter, this recipe produces a combined output of 680PS (671hp) and 850Nm (627lb-ft) of torque, taking it from 0 to 100km/h (62mph) in just 3.4 seconds, and up to a top speed of 310km/h (193mph).

By comparison, the Urus currently makes 650PS (641hp) and 850Nm (627lb-ft) of torque, and needs 3.6 sec for the 0-100km/h (62mph) sprint, before tapping out at 305km/h (190mph).

Besides the obvious power boost offered by this new powertrain, as well as the small zero-emission range, the Lamborghini Urus PHEV will also see its CO2 emissions drop to some 70 g/km. This would give it a big advantage in various markets, and it will mark the beginning of a new era for Lamborghini, as this will be their first electrified model.

Lamborghini is dead. It no longer has anything exclusive and is just a mix of pieces borrowed from other brands. It is no longer possible to say that it is an exclusive brand, it is an extinct breed made up of a lot of marketing and German mafia that buys advertising space in car magazines that try to change the game. The truth is that Lamborghini has nothing of his own

The only one. Consider that Huracan is 90% an Audi R8 and they are planning a 4 door saloon based on Panamera (A8)

        • Dings

Panamera uses MSB platform , A8 uses MLB EVO the same one as this URUS

        • Michelin

Or Audi R8 is 80% a Lamborghini Huracan, May be ….

    • fabri99

I disagree. Lamborghini is still making a great deal of supercars, though they are not making them as I would like them to. Anyway, the fact that they are trying to be more profitable with an SUV doesn’t cancel all their efforts in exclusive hypercars and supercars recently. If the money raised with the Urus will be used to give us more Veneno/Centenario/SestoElemento (a concept car but still)/Aventador/Huracan then why not?

        Nicely said.

      • Philip George

That’s not the point bro. The point carmelo made is that there’s nothing really unique about most Lambo cars anymore. For example, Huaracan is mostly an Audi R8 rebadged as a Lambo, and this URUS is mostly Audi if you look closely and it’s built on a Porsche platform. Now they want to use Porsche’s engine for the phev version. So where is the soul of Lamborghini in the URUS then? Only in the badge on the bonnet?? They need to at least build their own engine, gearing, and transmission system to keep that Lambo spirit going

        • fabri99

Well, spending less money on these cars by recycling parts from other brands maximizes profits. Which is what the Urus was born for in the first place. As for the Huracan, I’d like it to be more unique too, but I still think it is quite different from the R8. What Lamborghini is really all about is big supercars, and those are unique enough… I’d rather the only stick to those, alright, but they just can’t. So here comes a smaller supercar, the Huracan, and more popular models, such as an SUV. It’s just a strategy to profit more, but it isn’t killing real Lamborghinis.

  • fabri99

As I’ve said before, I have no problem with sports cars brands building SUVs and sedans. If these vehicles allow a brand such as Lamborghini to earn enough money to continue making niche supercars, then what’s not to like?
Having said that, I think this Urus looks awful. Anyway, I’m glad Lamborghini has made an SUV, it’s a money-maker to make the brand profitable. They just can’t go on forever with €300k supercars…

  • nastinupe

So how large is this vehicle? Is it BMW X6 sized?

    • vaybach khan

bmw x2, which is better looking too, and its a bmw not audi ;P

im kidding(on size part), its based on audi q7 platform, so its a little longer then audi, 43cm to be precise, 10cm shorter in height and 43mm wider.

  • EyalN

are you sure this is a lambo? where is the v12?
lembo never had a turbo engine, nothing is made by lambo in this suv
