Lexus Insider Says LC F Will Use 621 HP 4.0-Liter Twin-Turbo V8

The upcoming Lexus LC F looks set to become the firm’s most powerful production vehicle ever and could be tapping on the doors of established supercars.

Japanese publication Holiday Auto recently conducted an interview with an alleged Lexus insider who claims that the LC F will use a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine delivering a healthy 621 hp, Lexus Enthusiast reports. To put that figure into perspective, the current LC 500 has 471 hp and that car is no slouch, meaning the LC F should be absolutely blistering.

Beyond the vehicle’s adoption of a new powertrain, the insider asserts that the LC F will weigh approximately 7 per cent less than the LC 500, or approximately 300 lbs less, thanks to the use of additional carbon fiber reinforced plastic.

Last but not least, the source claims that the LC F will start at roughly 20 million yen ($176,000) and arrive in dealerships around the world in 2019.

The veracity of these claims can’t be verified at this early time but they have certainly piqued our interest in the car.

Expect to learn more about the LC F throughout 2018.

lc f – checked. now make nx f.

  • This better be real!

  • Taegon Lewis

I predicted, the LC F may happen.

Now, if only Lexus bring back, the original F Performance model, in the division’s early days in 2007: the IS F.

    • Infinite1

I agree, the one that started it all isn’t in the picture… but it should

    • Six_Tymes

thousands of other people did also, it was fairly obvious to predict.

    • True I wonder why never bother to create 2nd gen IS F

      • bd

Didn’t sell particularly well and Toyota didn’t have an updated powertrain (TTV6).

        • Make sense but didn’t IS F is quite successful (at least in Japan)

  • Craig

Certainly more powerful than their first 4.0 liter V8. [As in 371 hp more!]

  • Shame they ditched the N/A for Turbo too. I remember Chris Harris praised the analog Lexus among the German opposition.

    • Сафиуллина-Мохамед Рамазанов

But in the same time they left in the dust acceleration and speed wise due to the weight and the low torque high rev engine, so if they need to be taken seriously, they must compete seriously with the Germans, honestly I want them to take the supercharger path instead of the turbocharger one but with any better than none

      • In numbers yeah but if you see the review of F series some praise the almost analog feeling of the Lexus. And in the era of electronic steering and turbocharging, I found cars like that exciting.

        • Сафиуллина-Мохамед Рамазанов

Honestly I adore the N/A and I am totally not into turbocharger, but they must compete well so either they create a large capacity small size engine as the one they did with the LFA or they can remove a lot of complications and take the turbo or supercharger path

          • Yeah that is why I love this quirky plucky N/A cars. Even in the paper they are not as impressive it seems. And also I doubt they can get high power N/A engine again. The emission regulation simply make it hard or even impossible to be road legal.

  • JBsC6

Only 178 grand? Wow..I’ll take two! Best of luck on a supercar that will literally go hundreds of thousands of miles reliably….plus it’s a good looking car…I predict it will sell well although all kidding aside the price is a little high…

    • Сафиуллина-Мохамед Рамазанов

This price in Japan, and with little searching you will see that this price may turn to be around 145,000 USD which is very good actually for 621 lux. GT

  • Dude

What about power SUVs? RX F, NX F? 245hp and 313hp max for nx/rx are a joke if comparer to mercedes or bmw.

  • ediotsavant

They need to use this engine wherever possible. LS, GS, RC, IS, GX, LX….etc. Power to the people!

  • Honda NSX-R
  • LWOAP

    More power, less weight.

I think Lexus is on the right track.

  • SteersUright

Neat, but how about shedding a few pounds too??

  • SteersUright

Dying to read some news about an NSX-R too, with the famous roof air scoop! And if we’re really, really, lucky, a mini-NSX for us regular Joe’s too, as an update to the old S2000.

    Sign me up!

  • KSegg

Lexus should just take a page out of AMG and just “F” everything in their entire lineup.

    LS-F, IS-F, LX-F, NX-F, RC-F, LC-F, ES-F, CT-F
