Screaming Apollo IE With Alleged Ferrari-Sourced V12 Will Send Shivers Down Your Spine

If you weren’t already having dreams about the Apollo Intensa Emozione, this video should permanently sketch an outline of the car in your subconscious.

Last week, the carmaker held the Asian premiere for the IE in Hong Kong and at the conclusion of the event, decided to show attendees that the supercar is much more than a showpiece. As it turns out, it is fully functional and sounds unlike any other four-wheeled vehicle.

Sitting at the heart of the Intensa Emozione is a naturally-aspirated 6.3-liter V12 engine, allegedly based around the Ferrari F12’s powertrain. However, the engine features a custom intake, exhaust, and software package from Autotecnica Motori, lifting power to 780 hp at 8,500 rpm and 560 lb-ft of torque.

The end result is a supercar that sounds so good it makes any modern Ferrari seem benign. In fact, this late-night burnout in Hong Kong probably woke up half of the city.

Extremely cool, great engine choice. But how is this even road legal?

    • LWOAP

The only explanation I can think of is that low volume cars don’t have to conform to the same safety and emission standards as mass produced cars.

    • They said it’s not legal in most countries. But I’m pretty sure in some country rules are more relaxed (or maybe you had connection with the ruling government)

Didn’t they once crashed Pagani Zonda R in Chinese road? The car has complete registration place.

      • fabri99

That makes sense. As for the Zonda R, it would be outrageous to put that thing on the road, but you can always have it homologated for road use. Just like that japanese guy who drives around in a Porsche 962.

        • The 962 story is a bit different, Japan has strict Shaken test on cars that include sound. That’s why the guy put a huge mufflers for his 962. And it’s old car I think it’s exempted on road homogenization rules.

The Zonda R in China is totally bone stuck. And I heard the driver was in fact children of General/Politicians. But still driving those two in the road is bonkers.

          • fabri99

Oh, I didn’t know you could do that in China. Though I guess you can do anything in China as long as you’re the son of a politician.

          • I’m not Chinese so I can’t confirm either… I just see someone mention it in site about Chinese cars. They have notoriously bad bureaucracy, I remember that they will deliberately make unregistered imported cars to get impound by customs and they will repurchase the car in government auction. And all of that is cheaper than registering a new car and get a license plate (In China, especially the big city license plate are made limited so people often auctioning a license plate only)

  • Moveon Libtards

Looks cartoonish. Still more exciting than a Tesla though…

  • SteersUright

Great engine choice! High revving n.a. motors are the “soul” of any real sports car. Turbo’s are for diesels and generic, emotionless cars. This thing sounds wicked and looks like a Batmobile.

    • LWOAP

      The F40 was turbocharged though.

      • Matt

And considered by many to be the best ‘F’ model ever….

      • SteersUright

Damn, well played. But, imagine it was a shrieking V12 instead, would’ve been just that much finer than it was.

        • I can list a lot of beautifully sound turbo engine. It’s not because it’s N/A or Turbo it’s about how do they set it up in my opinion.

          • SteersUright

Really? I know of VERY few and most are manipulated sounds like extra loud exhaust, or trickery through the speakers, etc. While some turbo engine might idle with an aggressive note or sound decent for a few rpm, most don’t rev high enough to produce any sort of exciting engine note from what I’ve heard.

  • Kaisuke971

Sounds insane, hopefully it’s also a great performer like the original (Gumpert) Apollo. It’ll be interesting to see how it compares to the more “mainstream” hypercars (Senna, Valkyrie, Project One…), if we get the chance to see any type of comparison that is

    • This is not even in the same league as Apollo.. I’m a big fan of the original cars and frankly what this person do is hire bunch of people to build him a hypercar… It’s just felt generic.

  • Six_Tymes

    wow. its ferocious

  • MatTa Ddor

Too much Asiatic Design!to my taste

  • Dariush

Ferrari dont gives away its engines easijy

  • Never like the new Apollo after the Chinese guy bought it. It felt so generic and without clear vision of what the brand and the car were meant to be.

This is the problem with all of this Chinese start up Supercar. They just hired bunch of engineering company in Europe to build them car without the clear essence of what it meant to be (See NIO EP9 for example)

    Video is missing 🙁

    • Really? It’s right there in the bottom. It’s from facebook btw.
