Only a few days have passed since we saw the new generation Volkswagen Jetta in Detroit, and the compact sedan has already been rendered in different guises.

The GTI, as envisioned by XTomi, would be the direct successor of the Jetta GLI, if Volkswagen decides to put it into production, but until an official decision is made, we get to see it with styling cues borrowed from the Golf GTI, from which it would probably borrow the 226hp 2.0-liter four-banger, too.

A more potent version of the 2019 Jetta comes from the same rendering artist, and is the ‘R’ – a clear reference to the Golf R, from which it gets its more aggressive exterior design. A real-life Jetta R would be powered by the Golf R’s 306hp 2.0-liter engine, but the chances of ever being built are close to zero.

Given that Volkswagen used to offer a Jetta SportWagon, the third rendering, posted by Kleber Silva, is the more realistic of the three, though there’s no official word on whether such a bodystyle is on the cards.
